Just back from the Magic Kingdom and had a cast member tell us that there is a rumor that SpectroMagic will be leaving this fall. He said it will likely be replaced "with something we haven't had yet from another park." So we made sure to see it that night. :)

Maybe you'll get Fantillusion and we'll get Spectromagic. I think Fantillusion runs already 5+ years over here (after it came from Japan)

dam!. and all my time in florida i never saw it.

wasted my time with shamu, and some stupid firework display at epcot.

oh well...let's hope they get another good parade soon

I miss the Main Street Electrical Parade. That would be ok to come back.

i miss that parade also. i remember standing there in the cold watching it.

it was amazing...all those floats passing right in front of us...to the catchy music that seemed to play throughout the park

We have plans to see it this fall! I really hope it stays until at least then.

I would much rather have MSEP than SpectroDisaster. At least all the music ties together with one theme and variations.

I just got back from Disneyland and a parking attendant who used to work on Main Street told me that he heard from a friend who works at Epcot, who is sleeping with a float driver on Spectromagic that Spectro is indeed moving to Disneyland (which needs a nighttime parade). The driver also told this person that starting this June, they will all be trained on float operations for a former Disneyland parade/show that will be shipped to WDW's MK next fall. That show is called "Light Magic". They are expecting it to be a hit in Florida.

no matter what parade they bring to the magic kingdom, nothing beats the electrical light parade

Light Magic was a total disaster and was pulled after only about a year because it was considered so terrible.

LOVED the Electrical Light Parade - some of my best Disney memories with my dad were watching that parade.

Sorry to be dense, but is that parade at another park now, or is it retired? Thanks!

And - what is Fantillusion? Could you please describe?

Thanks!

Having seen several 'attempts' at the staging of LightMagic at DL back in the day -- I feel extremely confident that whatever floats and costumes associated with that parade were burned and destroyed when it was cancelled.

And if not, I have some matches here ...

PS> I know the poster was joking ..

MSEP is currently running at DCA I believe. If not, they stopped it sometime recently.

Fantillusion was in Japan and then moved to Paris. It's a light parade, but probably the weakest of the three. (not counting Light Magic, of course)

I also believe there would be insurmountable logicistic problems getting the Spectro Magic floats thru Disneyland. Some of them are just too big or too long.

About Fantillusion: I prefer it over Spectromagic, and sometimes even over *gasp* MSEP. The music isn't that irritating...

It's a nighttime/ light parade in 3 chapters:

First chapter is Mickey, and floats with Pluto, Chip & Dale and lots of fairies. It has the 3 fairies from Sleeping Beauty, but also some flower-floats with misc fairies.

Next chapter are the Villains. I think there are 4 floats: Ursula, Maleficent, Jaffar and... it might only be 3.

3rd chapter are princesses (Belle, Snow White, Mermaid, and I think Cinderella) and Minnie Mouse.

In Paris, the parade makes 2 stops, during which the light settings change, and lots of dancing etc goes on.
Ex: at the Villains-chapter, they set up blacklights, and the dancers have these black-with-fluo-paint suits on, and it kinda looks like just flames are dancing, etc.

I really like it, the floats are beautiful, the costumes are nice, the music is great.

daber & SandraVB79 - thank you so much for the information! Have to see what ends up happening.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people refer to the Main Street Electrical Parade as the "electric light parade". I don't know where this term came from, but I really can't stand it.

The current version of the parade is still at DCA and it is called "Disney's Electrical Parade". This is the same version of the parade that used to be at MK. Disneyland's original version was dismantled after the "farewell season" in 1996.

I'd be happy with their bringing back the Electrical Parade. I have fond memories of it! And I love the music!

Spectromagic...well, I just can't get past the scary guys. And I don't care if they've changed them. They are still scary.

same hhere...bring back the mainstreet electrical parade!

i have fond memories of that

I would have no problem if they decided to bring Spectromagic to DCA and swap it with DEP. It sounds like those of you who regularly go to WDW are tired of it. After 35 years of MSEP/DEP (same parade) I can definately say that it's time for something new on the west coast. It's especially sad when the parade is at DCA and you can literally walk up to the sidewalk and sit down to watch the parade 5 minutes before it starts.
