I had heard that it's possible this parade may be coming back? Did anyone else hear this or know anything? :confused3 We will be there the 3rd week of August and would love to see this. We have seen both Spectro and Electrical Light Parade and prefer Spectro.

1- It is possible.
2- No word yet.
3- Maybe. Maybe not.

There are two main rumors circulating.
One involves damaged Spectro parade vehicles and Spectro NOT coming back this year.
The other rumor says Spectro is just a few repairs from being parade-ready.

4- So... Stay tuned.

You can search just about any Disney forum and find a dozen rumors about Spectro returning. However, that's all they are at this point, rumors.

That was very helpful...thank you!. :lmao:

They need a LOT of work, read that "time and money".

Far from just a few repairs of being parade ready.

Don't expect to see Spectro anytime soon.

I guess that I'm one of the few who greatly prefers the Electrical Parade to Spectromagic.

That's really too bad. We saw the Electric Light Parade last time we were at WDW 2 yrs ago and were severely underwhelmed. I would love to see SprectroMagic return!

I miss it sooo much. MK just isn't the same without it. I was really hoping it was going to return this year, but all the recent reports I've seen, seem to indicate that there's really no chance of that happening. :sad1:

I certainly didn't dislike Spectromagic, but somehow I enjoyed the Main Street Electrical Parade more. Enjoy 'em both, in reality. I'm a little surprised to hear that the Spectro floats are in need of such repair; I mean, surely normal wear and tear is an issue, but that they would be in apparently such disrepair is a little surprising.

Oh, well...be happy with either, with a slight lean toward MSEP.

I really really hope Spectro comes back soon...I saw MSEP for the first time on Friday, and I was so incredibly underwhelmed. Pete's Dragon was gorgeous, but that "To Honor America" float was just a little too much for me! :confused3

Lot of Spectro parts used to keep MSEP serviceable.

Is there any truth to the fire/termite damage rumors?

No fires that I could see. Termites don't generally eat steel and fiberglass, at least not the ones I am familiar with. Don't know if FL termites have a different diet.

Not really. The floats have suffered from the same wear & tear as anything mechanical that is used a lot and subject to the elements. And frankly, it's more rust than it is termites.

But it's actually not the floats that are the biggest deal ... it's the costumes. Those suffer far more from humidity, heat, dampness, wear, sweat, cleaning, etc. Each individual costume is a major piece of design and construction, and it's a huge undertaking to maintain those costumes and wigs and all of their various pieces / parts. People tend to focus on how the floats are doing ("they looked fine when I saw them at the Marathon", etc.) and forget that all of those Character (and people) costumes and overlays tend to fall apart faster.

:earsboy:

It seems to me that the return of Spectro has been "imminent" for about a year-and-a-half now!:lmao: I wish it would! I truly have no interest in seeing the MSEP again....

I think Spectro is a "better" parade. However, MSEP still is great. The music and the floats take my back to my childhood visits to Disney World. I would call it a wash. I know my kids don't seem to complain.

Please do not laugh at me, but what exactly is the difference in Spectromagic and ELP? I know I probably have seen them both but do not remember.

Just do a You Tube search. You will find decent movies of both.

Floats were getting pretty used up when they took them out of service. Wiring needs to be all updated among other things. All pretty old technology for stuff that was built years ago and newer lighting, sound and drive systems need to be installed in addition to new costuming as mentioned before.

Spectro was a difficult parade to take a float out of service for maint. and retain the flow of the parade. Tinkerbell has been out of MSEP for the last 3 or 4 nights with some lighting wiring problems but just doesn't get noticed as much since the Goofy float can also be a parade "starter". Spectro was more difficult to do that.

I was at DLR in December and cast always said they would like to have "their" back. A lot of us would like to see them get it back and Spectro return. I'm, personally, getting really bored with MSEP over the last almost 3 years.
