We are going in Feb. and staying at the VWL. OUr first night, a Saturday, we definitely want to see Spectro and Wishes. I know Spectro starts at 7:00 and Wishes at 8:00. My question is does Wishes last longer than the old show? We used to get on the boat back to the hotel after Spectro and watch the fireworks. If we do that for Wishes will we miss anything that we should stay in the park and see?

Wishes is 12 minutes long, compared to Fantasy in the Sky's 7-minute duration.

The length of the show is all after the scheduled start time, so leaving after Spectro, Wishes will not start any earlier than FITS would have (did I read your question right?)
You can see Wishes from outside the park, however the composition is prettier from inside.
It's up to you, though.

I saw it last month and I would definitely see it inside the park. There are some effects that I don't think you could see too well outside the park, such at the fireworks shooting up from the ground on the sides of the castle. You could watch it from the beginning of Main Street and get out before most of the crowd.

I agree with DebbieB. You'll have a much better appreciation for how wonderful WISHES is if you find a spot at the beginning of Main Street or on the train station balcony and be the first ones out the gate to catch the boat.

i agree, u really only get the total effect of wishes if u stand on main street, when i went last month for christmas, my family stood like 30 ft. behind the "partners" statue and it was great. i like wishes better than fantasy

Can you see Wishes fairly well from in front of the Plaza Restaurant ? Our plan is to see the 7PM show and then go for dinner. The Plaza will seat us up to 7:15 PM. Would Liberty Tree Tavern be a good place to se it ? This is our second choice ... same idea... see Wishes and then have dinner.

Thanks for your help !;)

We have seen Wishes about 5 times in the last few months - October and December - Twice from 'Ohana - request a seat by the window - they pipe in the music. Once from the boat dock at the GF - ok view but VERY IMPORTANT - you could not hear the music or words - and this really adds to the show. To DV Cindy - we watched it from outside LTT and did not have a very good view - even though the fireworks are high - most of them were behind the trees and buildings - I would not recommend seeing them from there. The best place we saw them from was Plaza Pavilion - near the Plaza Restaurant in Fantasyland. We purchased our food and were able to get a table right on the edge facing the castle. We were able to watch SpectroMagic from here also but it was not a very good spot for this. Tink flys right over you when you are seating by the edge Plaza Pavilion. I am sure Main Street is the best place to watch Wishes but it was December 30 and the park was packed and we had a wonderful seat and could not picture moving.

We watched this past December from the big Christmas tree right in City Hall Square, great spot for Spectro but not as good for the fireworks... I would try to get as close to the castle as possible for viewing of the fireworks.. it was very crowded where we were and people put their children on their shoulders, difficult to view from where we were.. We just got back Saturday and saw Spectro and Wishes a week ago today...sigh! I made PS for the Plaza at 4:15, staked out a spot with my Sis in law right after dinner on the hub...as you are facing the castle, look to your right as you enter the hub...there will be a popcorn cart. We sat on the curb about halfway between the popcorn cart and the walkway to Tomorrowland. Granted, we sat and people watched for about an hour and a half, but it was worth the wait. The guys took the kids to the arcade in Tomorrowland while we just sat and relaxed. Spectro was awesome being right on the curb...even had character interaction. Could see Tink so well and let me tell you, Wishes will make you cry!! When we go back, I plan on following the same strategy...why mess with perfection?!

By the way, Spectro started at 6:30 and Wishes at 7:30 that night, so I would adjust the PS time accordingly!

We saw Wishes the last night of the MVMCP and after New Years. Both times we watched from the hub, at the end of the spoke closest to Frontierland. If you get on the rail, you don't have anyone in the way, can use it to steady your camera, etc.

I think the only place better would be sitting on the wall around the Walt statue, closest to the castle.

Does anyone know for sure if Spectromagic always starts on Main Street and ENDS in Frontierland? I am assuming this is the case. We will be zipping over quickly from the Cali Grill and want to hop on the train and get a last minute spot in Frontierland for the 7pm parade on Jan 31st!

Great info on viewing spots ... thanks !

linda pizzuro - We have changed our game plan and will have dinner at the Plaza Pavillion just as you did. We have never eaten there before so it will be something new for us to try ... and we'll get a great viewing spot for Wishes, too ! Thanks for sharing your thoughts !;) Cindy

Note to DVCindy

Glad to hear you want to try the Plaza Pavillion - we had a great spot for viewing Wishes. Just make sure you try to sit all the way down by the edge facing the castle. Tink will fly right over you. Just please check out the menu to make sure there is something there that you and your party will like - I would hate to recommend something only for you to go there and not like what was one the menu.

Cheese pizza ($6.19)

Fried Chicken Strips - served with French fries $6.49

The only time I've heard it starts in Frontierland is if they are filming it and want the castle in the background. I've seen it many times and it has always been Main Street to Frontierland, first or second show.
