Special Trip for a Special Boy

TiggerMan2007 brings something up...asking, or telling people who can do something about it...about making the trip special.

Our first year, we paid everything for Ricki...then a friend asked if we had gotten him discount tickets, whatever to the places we went. So, the next year, I sent a few letters out, with an explanation, ahead of time..and it made me happy to see how the larger community helped, reached out to Ricki, with little things.

Sure, it's too late to write a note, but I would make a call or two, ask when we get there.

I haven't ridden the monorails much the last few trips but if they still allow families with the driver, he might like that.

And, although the only tour I've ever taken was the one through The Land, he might like that or one of the other tours.

Good luck and hope the trip's everything you'd like it to be for him.

We plan to do "Behind the Seeds" (at the land)

as well as the Family tour at the Magic Kingdom (scavenger hunt)

one more day!!!!

What about renting some of the water craft I think you do that at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian. I believe you can rent bikes/surreys at SSR. There's horseback riding at Ft. Wilderness.

We'll be there about the same time as you are staying at SSR. Hope you guys have a great time.

new_yawka,

I just wanted you to know that I think you and your family are wonderful people. Hearing about what you are doing, and have done, for this young boy brought tears to my eyes that are now flowing down my face. And yes, I am a big, emotional softie...always have been.

The time that you have given to him will make a HUGE difference in the direction his life will take. I'm sure that he will enjoy whatever you have planned. But, since he's a boy...Disney Quest & mini golf would most likely be great fun for him. I know that video games and mini golf are things that you can do at home but doing them at Disney just seems more magical.

This is his first trip on an airplane though, so I certainly expect the unexpected!

Make sure you remind him about the 'thunk' after take off, when the wheels go in. I was with my neice on her first ever flight, and I'd warned her. When it happened, she was so grateful!!!

I don't know if they're still doing this, but a few years back, we were in the shop in Toontown at closing (during the fireworks). All the characters from the back came out an had a big party going on. conga line, dancing, etc. That's SO disney!
