For the second time in 3 months I used special services to make sure that our room was correctly equipped. Both times things got all mixed up and we did not get the rooms we requested. I am a bit disappointed as to how they mess up something so simple to me.

The first time we had one room at Beach Club. It was to sleep five (with use of the day bed) and have a roll in shower with toilet bars. When we arrived and went into the room there was no day bed nor real room for a rollaway and still be able to use the wheelchair. The bathroom was correct but lack of a bed was a real problem. It took them hours to get us moved into another room and in the long run we ended up with connecting rooms in order to sleep five people. I had called numerous times before our trip to verify that all was well and that the room would accomodate all of us. It was disappointing and the wait for a room was near impossible for my parents.

This trip was to Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had requested the same room needs only for three of us and a Savannah view. Again all was fine two weeks before we left but on arrival there was no room that met our needs. I finally gave up and said just give us a room that will sleep the three of us on the Savannah. We checked in around 11 AM and knew that the room would not be ready but we did expect a room by 4 PM. I called the number later in the day and was informed that a regular room was assigned to us and was ready. We already had our card keys and we were assured that the keys would work and the room was ready. We had tickets to see Cirque at 9 PM so it was quite late when we got to our assinged room. It was in the Savannah area and had two ( I think Queen beds, might have been Kings). There was a regular tub and sink area and the toilet had a portable toilet set over it.

I felt better thinking Disney had at least tried to meet our needs but I was still upset that the room that I had reserved seem to not exist again! Well I was happy until we tried to use the bathroom. The legs on the portable toilet kept you from closing the bathroom door! PHOOEY! :confused3

Oh well .....we put the portable toilet in the closet and just lifted my mom up and down off the toilet and did not allow her to take a shower.

We had a nice trip despite the mess ups and we all enjoyed the Cirque.

I'm not sure if the room you described at BC exists - accessible roll in shower bathrooms usually end up taking some space from the bedroom, thus the day bed isn't available, unless it's a king bed with a daybed? Perhaps they got the two types of HA rooms mixed up - don't the rooms with bathrooms equipped with the handbars in the tub and by the toilet have the daybed?

My inlaws had the roll-in accessible bath-type room at AKL - kingsize bed with a fold-out chair/bed, but it was pool view, not savannah view.

We now know that the room that was booked for us at BC does not exist. In fact when I talked to Special Services to book the room at AKL I told the man I spoke with about our previous problems and how important it was for me to have things correct this time. He asked what had happened and I explained that the type of room that we booked did not exist and he confirmed that and said that it was in big print in all of their books. I haveno idea how the person who booked our BC room made such a mistake. Funny thing though is I called numerous times before we left to verify that all was fine and no one caught the mistake until we walked into the room.

The room we ended up with at BC had two queen beds, no day bed and it had a roll in shower and toilet rails. They ended up comping us a connecting room that had two queens and a day bed with a regular bathroom arrangement.

This time I suspect that the party that was in our room decided to stay and they could not get us a room with the rails and roll in shower on the Savannah. I understand that you can not force people to leave so at least this was understandable. And they did try by placing the portable toilet over the commode but you would think they could have one that allowed you to shut the bathroom door. Fortunately this stay was a short one and we made do with out having my mom use the shower and helped her use the commode.

It is just disappointing that the last two times we have booked special rooms, and what I think are very normal requests, and neither time did it work out for us.
