So, I plan on proposing to my girlfriend on our first full day at Disney. She is the major Disney planner and books all our meals, fastpasses etc. I managed to get her to book a pre-park ADR at Cinderella's Royal Table for our first day and I plan on proposing as the photographer takes those "empty" park photos. We've done this once before and she says walking down a near empty Main Street was her favorite part of the trip, plus since there'll be less people around I hope it'll feel a little more personal than later in the day.

So that part is planned, but I'm wondering about the evening meal. Obviously, she's the planner and she doesn't know what will be happening on that day, so it's going to be difficult for me to try and change restaurants without raising suspicion. But I mainly wanted to know where would be somewhere special to go to celebrate? I tried to get a reservation for Victoria and Albert's at the 180 mark, with no luck. I think right now she has Grand Floridian Cafe booked which looks ok but I doubt that's what she'd pick if she knew we'd be celebrating... Where would you recommend? Ideally somewhere near MK so we can head back to the park afterwards for the fireworks.

We are traveling with our families too, so six total. So I don't know whether keep us all together, or keep the GFC reservation for them and have us steal a little time alone for a romantic meal. What would you do?

Thank you in advance for any help/advice!

Narcoosee's on the waterfront at the grand Floridian. The food is excellent. It is a signature restaurant, service is excellent. If you plan it at the right time, you can watch the MK fireworks outside on the water font or through the windows of the restaurant. Romantic and special.

Congratulations and good luck!

I also like the idea of Narcoosee's, or even California Grill, during the fireworks (obviously request a table with a view). I'm glad you're planning the proposal for earlier in the day, because a downside to dining at romantic restaurants is they're popular places to propose. Nothing else will take the wind out of your proposal like one or two other guys popping the question at the same restaurant before you planned to.

Since your soon-to-be-fiancée already has GFC booked and you're going with family, why don't you make a separate reservation privately and when the day comes -- like you said -- steal her away for a special dinner while your family goes ahead to GFC? You won't raise any alarms by changing her plans and I'm sure your families will understand.

It is also possible to do a private fireworks cruise, we are doing that with family on our next trip and it is surprisingly affordable. It comes with water/soda and some snacks, but we are upgrading to have dinner on the boat along with a cake. The GF is one of the docks that these boats take off from, so depending on timing you could eat there and then surprise her with a fireworks cruise. Just a thought. And congrats!!
