Good luck, Mary!
I called DL Vacation planning this morning "just in case" I missed a PIN code that may have been sent to me, LOL! The person I spoke to was really sweet and said that it was really early for my December trip and that any Winter specials would probably be out in August. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a PIN
Got my park hopper tickets so am one step closer to our Christmas Vacation![]()
Kauinohea - I'm glad you checked, just to see if there was a PIN code lurking in their system attached to your name. The CM you spoke with said what I would expect them to say - because they don't really know about the Saved Offer trick. When I booked it last December, the CM was totally baffled and had not seen that offer floating around yet. Even though it is becoming more widely known on the DIS now, that doesn't mean the CM's have any clue about it.
Your CM is thinking of general PIN codes that go out in their mass mailings (some people get them; some don't). Those offers would certainly not come out yet. But the Saved Offer is a bit different in that it is proven to, in some cases, go all the way to the holiday season, as was the case with usedmedia's recent PIN offer. Some of us are getting offers that only go up to a certain point, but at least one DIS'er has gotten on that extends to mid-December by doing the Saved trick.
I would just let the current saved offer expire, and the save a new one, in the hopes that there is an actual PIN code on the e-mail they send you!
I do have a My Disneyland account, but have never saved anything to it. I had done several searches for dates in August at GCH, and received a PIN for PPH good August 1-31 ($290/night), as well as the same offers it sounds like everyone else got - $163 PPH, $186 DLH; $247 GCH, for 10/16/ - 11/19 and 11/27 - 12/17. I got it in the mail, not email.
Oh! I bet I know why I got it. I ordered a Disney Parks planning DVD, and in answering the questions said I was considering a trip to DLR in August. So maybe that's another trick to try . . . I just wish they had given me a good rate for GCH!
mrswh - Yep, I've gotten PINS without Saving offers, too. If you did the searches and looked up offers while you were signed into your My Disneyland account, that could be the key. Otherwise, your name got on the PIN list some other way. PIN's have been going out for years to people, so there are any number of sources the DLR database must pull from.
I'm not saying there are not other methods to getting PIN codes. What I'm saying is that everyone always asks about how to get the mythical PIN's and no one ever has a solid path that they can trace back to exactly how it was obtained, and then say with confidence that you will probably get one. It just happens. Tons of people order DVD's and never see a PIN. Or they get on all kinds of other mailing lists and eventually get one, years later.
Somewhere on this forum I have a list of things to sign up for and places to get on mailing lists to increase PIN potential.
But the Saved Offer trick - since last year - seems to be an almost guarantee. Most of the people I have recommended it to have gotten a PIN. There only seem to be a few people who have not gotten a PIN from Saving an offer yet. So right now, this is the main one that can absolutely, definitely be traced back to a particular 'trigger.'
