Special offering?

I was just passing on the info as everyone else has done for me.

As we are expecting our third child in October, we are not going to travel until April at the earliest. We chose the $8 credit incentive instead of the double developer points.

All in all, we are very happy with our contract.

Glad we could help out.

My family has also decided to purchase 260 points in the AKR. We are still considering the option of taking the incentive developer points or the the $8 discount on purchased points. The question I had for others who have gone through the process is what exactly can you do with the incentive developer points?

I know they expire in 7 months and cannot be banked but can you rent them out before expiration? If so,at the going rate of $10 per point that's potentially double the savings to use the developer incentive points rather than the $8 discount......assuming you can successfully rent all of the points. Even if you rented out only half and used the other half it's a heck of a deal.

Thanks for any information and sorry if this is a Goofy question.

BTW, love the site and all of the information. :thumbsup2

Renting developer points is an option. Keep in mind that it requires quite a bit of work on your part. You can ask whatever $ value per point you wish. One small problem I ran into was when making a reservation with developer points you DO NOT recieve a confirmation number immediately. It takes 5 - 7 days before attaining the number and another 7 - 10 days for a confirmation letter. I was told that a small staff has to do this process by hand, thus the delay. The reason I bring this up is because normally when you make a reservation, you recieve the confirmation number then. If renting points, your renter may not understand the delay. I just told the renter about the delay due to developer point processing and everything worked out, however the whole process from start to finish was 2 weeks. I would also use a point rental contract. it is a very good way to decrease the initial cost of your contract if you are patient.

I really appreciate the information. BTW, I wonder which option(discount or developer points) most new direct buyers choose.

I am considering purchasing DVC and I am not sure what to do. On one hand, buying resale SSR cost less, but buying new AKV got bonus double points. Also AKV seems require less point for their rooms, but SSR has lower maintance fee. So if you have to choose from the two resorts, which will you choice??

Choose the resort you like the best. The incentives kind of work out close in the long run. Maybe the total amount financed is a bigger question? When you cost this out over 47-50 years there is not much difference. Which decor appeals to you most? Sleep on it & buy where you want to stay most of the time. There is no absolute right choice, just make it & be done with it. Amost certainly you will be happy in the long run.

I'm confused again. If they sell you a contract with December UY, do you have to wait to December 2007 to get the first set of points? or you get a set now and another set in December?? If I want to purchase AKL directly from Disney, which UY will give the best adventage right now?

My understanding based on my recent dealings and subsequent purchase was that AKV was offering June UY. Where you get your points now and then again June 1, 2008. The deal I got was a Feb 07 UY, so I got my points now and will get my 2008 points Feb 1.

Don't know what they are offering for SSR.

We were offered an OKW Dec UY where we would have gotten 2006 points now and then 2007 points Dec 1. Obviously the 2006 points come with the need to use or bank before Nov 30, 2007.

We ended up going the AKV route as the cost differnce between AKV and the OKW were small and the developer point option plus the Feb UY made it the right decision for us.

If you buy at AKV and get a December UY, then yes, you won't have any points until Dec 07. When I bought AKV in May, I got an August UY, so I don't have any points until August 1.

If you buy at SSR now with a Dec UY, you will receive points now and points on Dec. 1 2007. Remember with a Dec UY you are still in your 2006 UY in July of 2007. The reason you do not at AKV is because there was no 2006 Dec UY. Akv was not offered then. Clear as mud.

Feb 2007 UY. You get 2007 points now, and a new set of points in Feb 2008.
