I have a skin disorder that, in the past, has necessitated surgery on my upper arms. As you might well guess, finding a dress style to work for me will be very difficult!!!! I must have opaque sleeves at least to the elbow :bitelip:

...anyway, tell me what y'all think of this dress for a vow renewal. We were going to have it on our anniversary (July 7) but now we are considering October or December 08 to celebrate our tenth. The big thing is that I would not want it to be this poufy. Can't I get a less wide petticoat/slip? Any help would be appreciated! :goodvibes

Hi Lisa,

I think you would have to try the dress on first to see what it looks like without a large crinoline. It is truly beautiful and would be fantastic for a wedding or vow renewal. The saying that you can only have a big wedding once is totally out. People are celebrating staying together just as much as starting out together these days. Get whatever you like most and makes you happy. You will look like an absolute princess in that dress princess:

I love that dress! It's VERY romantic and beautiful! You could also do a search on eBay under dresses with long sleeves to see lots of other styles that would meet your needs.

From one Lisa to another...I like that dress. :goodvibes It has a bit of southern Belle charm to it as well as a touch of Renaissance. The two styles are not far from one another. I think it would be fine without an extra crinoline underneath it. Most dresses come with a bit of shaping crinoline to them...I think the model is wearing and extra one which makes the dress much more poufy!

Since I am looking for a strapless dress, I didn't realize how hard it is to find a dress with sleeves. I went looking to see what else I could find out there and there are literally tons of sleeveless, spaghetti strap, and tank style dresses out there.

Good luck on you quest for a dress. I do like that one and if you're doing a December VR you should be fine in the longer sleeve...it should be much cooler than it is now!!!!! :dance3:

i love the dress. I think it will be fine for vow renewal. i had a hard time trying to decide if a very formal type gown would be ok too for a vowel renewal but my hubby loves the big cinderella type. I posted a pic of what im thinking of and i too think its way to big with an extra slip. I tried it on last week without another slip under it and it looked so much better without it. Go for it. I would do a nov.. dec. wedding though if it were me just because ur gonna get really hot in that much dress in July especially with sleeves. There are some truly beattiful dresses with long sleeves!

I think it is perfect...especially for the location!! Wow...I really think it is totally gorgeous:):)

Hi! I'm not a bride but I LOVE to lurk here and see all of your beautiful wedding pictures and ideas!! I'm formulating a vow renewal plan for DH and I sometime in the future (maybe the far distant future!!).

I just wanted to share a site or sites that have some more modest dresses available that may be what you are looking for.

Thank you very much for your replies. I may resurrect this thread from time to time and ask your opinion of a particular dress. I did like the eternity site a lot but the latterday site dresses all looked sort of the same. I like either simple or a medieval renaissance look. I plan to have the renewal in the courtyard of Italy as I spent some growing up years there :goodvibes

DH and I eloped to WDW in July 98 so none of our family was there with us. It was not our first marriage each so we thought it was appropriate. Now, with number 10 approaching and we made a successful marriage, we think a vow renewal is just the thing to do  :cloud9:

Simple would be this look:

you might also look at wedding dresses with those long jackets off lace or silk, theyre very elegant & beautiful. i remember seeing some at davids when i was looking for my dress last summer/fall.
