A co-worker is planning an "UNOFFICAL" family reunion to WDW. :grouphug: What I mean by "unoffical" is that it will NOT be A Disney Grand Gathering, but a family reunion none the less. My question is this-will they be able to receive any of the special goodies at Disney restaurants others get on other occasions such as Birthdays, anniversaries, etc...such as the window seat, the sparklers in the desert, complimentary cake and so on? :goodvibes

I'd like some info about this too!! :cool1: lol I heard that you can book a table up to 12 at some restraunt (starts with a "C"?) at the GF (NOT V&A!) and the chef will make a special menu for the group. Is this true anyone?

Citricos Chef's Domain. It is a minimum charge of $650 regardless of the number in your party...supposed to be fabulous though

First, you seem to be under the impression that the goodies are automatic for birthdays, etc. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions and honeymoons at WDW and got "freebies" once - a small bottle of champagne and bowl of strawberries in our room on my first honeymoon. Sometimes the magic happens, but in my experience, far more often it doesn't.

Second, people pay a lot of money for Grand Gatherings. If it became known on the internet that you could get the same thing for free just for asking, how many Grand Gathering events do you think Disney would sell?

In other words, it can't hurt to ask, but if you want something special, you'll need to set it up in advance and be willing to pay for it.

Geeezzzz...You really read me wrong. I was not "under the impression" of anything...nor was I looking for "freebies," as you put it. I simply asked an innocent question because of the fact I am excited for my friend planning a family reunion at WDW. I was asking about simple things like a sparkler on a slice of chocolate cake one evening-not the things that come with a Grand Gathering. Lighten up!

She's absolutely correct, though. You can't go in expecting *anything*, even a cupcake or a sparkler, unless you're willing to pay for it.

There have been many times that people go in expecting recognition for their special event, whatever it may be, and they've been disappointed. It's better to be safe than sorry by actually arranging something ahead of time than expecting something that may or may not happen.

Which is why I said something. I'm sorry if I came across wrong, I wasn't reading you as "grabby." I was trying to set your expectations.

Never hurts to ask, but I've seen a lot of people around here hurt when it didn't arrive.
