Special future 'Fast Pass' for child that is not tall enough yet

I did a search and found this thread from 2009 that talks about this, but I'm hoping to get some current feedback.

Last summer, when my younger DS was not quite tall enough for ToT (which we didn't expect him to be), the CM asked us to wait for a minute -- he went to a box he had and pulled out this "card" with the ToT on it that says something along the lines of, "We'll be waiting for you" . . . "I was tall enough to ride ToT on __________" . . . etc.

I asked what it was for and he said (my DH and older DS heard this, too) it could be used when he was tall enough as a FP for the whole family.

It doesn't state this on the FP, but I was wondering if anyone else has received these type of cards before and what they were told about them.

We got one on our last trip for Splash Mtn. We brought it to use in December...but got to keep it as a soverneir. We went one of the weeks with record low temps in high 20s. Needless to say, fastpass not necessary on this ride throughout the whole trip....but we still rode many, many times without getting off. You really do not get more than a brief splash to the face going down hill if you sit in the back and jets are off!

My son recieved one of these (just a bit larger, a certificate) in 1993 because he wasn't tall enough to ride BTMRR. Needless to say I never turned it in I kept it to use in his scrapbook.

We have quite a few of these from DL since we go every year. My GD was tall enough in Aug to finally use the one for Mulholland Madness, on the back it says (It has Quella Devil saying)

"Not to worry, darling! One day you'll be as tall and gorgeous as I am - then you'll be big enough to ride Mullholand Madness" Don't forget to bring this card back with you Ta--Ta!" You were tall enough to ride on_____________.

In small letters it says one-time use only, limit six quest per card. Then has the disclaimer that it is not a guarantee for immediate boarding and the usual disclaimer.

The one for Malaboomer says "well, I ain't never gonna be tall enought to ride Maliboomer-but you will! As soon as you are, bring this card back and go for it, baby!" You were tall enough to ride on____________________________.With all the disclaimers on the bottom.

Thank you for reminding me, I know we have some around somewhere for WDW when we go next month from back in 2008.

Its a certificate that allows your child and everyone in the party to get on the ride, like a fast pass, the following year. It is actually a great sovineer to have. My advice is to get one, then on the next day that your there get another certificate for a sovineer

That's what the CM said to us, but according the link I posted in my original post, they are disputing that.

I'll have to read the card more closely when I get home, but the thing is I don't think there is a fine-print re: the one-time use, six per card, etc.

There is no date on what they give you, so they would have no way of knowing if you're using it the following month (if your child grew over the next month and you went back the next month, that is), the next year or 2 years later.

We have a pre-schooler and two pre-teen boys, so our pre-schooler has collected a ton of these cards. Our most recent visits have been March 2010, July 2010 and January 2011 (so earlier this month.)

Here's what happened: Last year, our youngest started looking a little sad when we approached a ride for a rider swap pass. In response, the CM offered our youngest the future rider card and suggested that we just ask for a "future rider card" at any ride with a height requirement our little one does not meet. Other than that one occasion, the CMs have not mentioned or offered this card - we always need to ask. But every time we ask, they have one to give him. We usually make the request when we ask for the rider swap pass. They also had them at DL!

Last year, it helped to distract our youngest - he liked to hold the cards and look at the pictures. They have a space on the card where the CM can write the date the child can ride, so I think when you present the card, they are supposed to mark and return it. He's now 39 inches tall with shoes, and we're returning in a couple weeks - not sure the cards are going to distract him so much now that he's so close!

P.S. The CM at Test Track earlier this month told us that it will work like a fastpass when our son is tall enough to ride. Last year, the CM at Space Mountain told us the same thing. I'm not sure about official policy.

Mine is at home right now so I can't look, but I don't recall it saying that. The thread I found from '09 referred to it as a memento and probably can't be used as a FP, but I know what the CM said to us -- just want to make sure I wasn't given false information. Wish I would have known to request them at other rides (that would help with our future touring plan tremendously!).

Hi, I just started looking for these cards and came across one from way way back when my 20 year old was to small for IJ when they first opened at DL and the line was 4 hours long, I want to say that was 1994? boy does that bring back memories.

Yes, they work like a fast pass. No mine from DL has no expiration, so a week, a month or a year, or even 3 years, I am sure I could use this one from back in 1994 if I brought it back, since some poeple do not go every year or even every decade it is for whenever the person it was giving to is tall enough for that ride to get on line a fast pass. (When you think of it that way, the one for IJ must have been heaven since FP was not even in effect when I recieved this one.)

They still give them out, a lot of time you have to ask for them. We asked for one at Maliboomers this Aug and the CM said, they weren't giving them out anymore, when I told her we just got one for Screaming, she said, yes they are for Screaming but since Maliboomers will be closing in the future for good (at least that is what she said, I am not sure if it is or not) then that ride was no longer giving them out.

Although, now that I think about it, I'm going to mention this at rider switch next time for EE, RnR and SM -- might help us out for 2012.

They are difficult to read in the photo, but they say, "One-time usage only. Limit six (6) guests per card. Then, as gilesmt mentioned, there's more! The really fine print says, "This certificate does not guarantee immediate boarding. Operating hours of the attraction are subject to change without notice. Attraction may close temporarily without notice. Persons who do not meet minimum boarding requirements may not ride. Valid only for the named attraction. Not valid for admission to any theme park. May not be sold or transfered. Other restrictions may apply. Subject to change or cancellation without notice."

These are a really cool scrapbook item. My son will be 2 this summer and we are planning 4 trips to DL and WDW before he is 3. We should be able to rack up quite a few of these. He is 32 inches tall right now and i hope he is tall enough to at least be measured when we go to DL in July.

In 2002 my cousin wasn't tall enough to ride space mountain so he was given an "astronaught in training" (or some such wording) certificate to go to the front of the line when he was tall enough. His family haven't been back but i don't see why it wouln't have been honoured.
(We did go on transit authority so he thought he had been on a "little bit" of space mountain - he was only 4!!)

WOW, wish I had known or been offered one or any of these cards for my kids when they were younger and could not ride!! And especially for my DS as he saw his older sister go on many rides without him. We always asked for a child swap card, but had no clue about this card or I would have asked. Boy it would have made DS's day if any cm had offered him one of these great cards!

DS is now 6 and we just went over Christmas and since its been over 2 years since his last trip he was NOW tall enough to almost everything except RNR at 48 inches. It was such a great trip.

I know there are CMs that say they work like a Fastpass, but I haven't been able to get much in the way of confirmation - and in many trips with a short rider (there is a reason I know so much about Rider Switch passes), never, ever, ever, has a CM offered one for my kid.

Obviously they can't just give them out to everyone - it would be like collecting free super-Fastpasses that can be used by anyone any time and would create a black market for them. In fact you can often find them on eBay.

I believe that they are totally discretionary on the part of the CM - both for giving them out and accepting them as a Fastpass, but I think more than anything it's something to give the child as a consolation for not being able to ride.

those are great! thanks for posting guys! ds at 3.5 is very short, we leave in 16 days for trip number 3 with the kids and with 2 inches to go, he ain't gonna make it. at tt last year he had a meltdown in the showroom while waiting for dd. i felt awful, but will definetly ask about these on our next trip...and hope he springs up 2 inches for our xmas trip.
