Special future 'Fast Pass' for child that is not tall enough yet

I wish I had known about these! Fun souveneirs, and a little something "extra" for the kiddos who aren't quite tall enough. Do they have them at the water parks, too?

We were at WDW in Sept. 2010, and DS was 47.5" with his shoes on. Some CM's would let him go, but a few were even a bit rude when they told him "no go." It didn't help that his twin sister was able to ride everything! A special FP would have made it a little better :)

I know there are CMs that say they work like a Fastpass, but I haven't been able to get much in the way of confirmation - and in many trips with a short rider (there is a reason I know so much about Rider Switch passes), never, ever, ever, has a CM offered one for my kid.

Obviously they can't just give them out to everyone - it would be like collecting free super-Fastpasses that can be used by anyone any time and would create a black market for them. In fact you can often find them on eBay.

I believe that they are totally discretionary on the part of the CM - both for giving them out and accepting them as a Fastpass, but I think more than anything it's something to give the child as a consolation for not being able to ride.

I agree that it's discretionary on the part of the CM and probably that many aren't given away. I don't know what prompted the CM to give our DS one, though, because it's not like he showed any signs of being upset/disappointed that he wasn't tall enough -- we knew he wouldn't be (he just happened to walk up to the measuring stick on his own because he was playing).

The day before we were at EP at Soarin' and after we obtained our rider switch pass, my DH went to go wait somewhere else with my younger DS (who was in his stroller at the time) and I looked back and I could see the CM calling, "Sir" to my DH trying to get his attention but my DH didn't hear (I didn't bother chasing down my DH because I figured that it couldn't be that important, LOL), but after getting the special card at ToT the next day, it made me think that it's very possible that the CM at Soarin' was trying to do/offer the same thing.

Anyhow, from what I can tell from this thread:

1. Others have received this at WDW.
2. People have been able to use this as a FP at DL.

What I still don't have confirmation of, though, is whether or not anyone has brought their cards back to WDW and used them as a FP. :confused3

We have a card from Star Wars that my daughter was given as a reward for turning in a hat she found under her seat. She was 12 or so - the CM told us it would work like a Fastpass if she wanted to ride again. The hat belonged to a child in the group just ahead of us. The family was still waiting for us to exit hoping that the hat would still be there. The poor little kid was crying and ever so happy when my daughter walked out holding the hat!

Don't know if the card would have actually worked - she has it in her scrapbook. It was kind of a nice gesture of the CM to give it to her.

We got one a few years back for DD who was 39.5" tall and soooo wanted to ride BTMRR. She received what looked like a baseball card "Special Fast Pass" for Future Engineers of BTMRR...this pass entitles you to advance to the front of the line just as soon as you are tall enough to ride...and that is exactly what they did...our next trip a year or so later we went directly to the front of even the fast pass line and boarded the very next car.

It is stuff like this that Disney does that keeeps us coming back for more and more magic.

I think if you had read the card, you'd find that it says specifically that it does not guarantee front of the line access...I've never seen a card that did. They all have the same basic vague language that basically just says to "come back and ride when you are tall enough" - which you can essentially do without the card to begin with.

How the CMs treat the card is a different matter.

i wish i had known that with dd when she was too short

they just told us at tt nope she cant' ride thanks for coming out.

WOW, wish I had known or been offered one or any of these cards for my kids when they were younger and could not ride!! And especially for my DS as he saw his older sister go on many rides without him. We always asked for a child swap card, but had no clue about this card or I would have asked. Boy it would have made DS's day if any cm had offered him one of these great cards!

We've only ever received one (Test Track).

That particular incident, DS was told he was tall enough by the CMs at the entrance, but then the CM at the boarding area "couldn't decide" if he was tall enough or not. Another CM came to assist as they measured and re-measured him and ultimately decided he wasn't tall enough.

He was given the same card that was posted in the previous photo. All it says is that he'd be qualified to ride when he was tall enough. No where does it say that it can be used as a FP for the whole family. The CMs didn't mention that either, they just gave him the card because they felt bad that he had waited through the entire line and then turned away.

Is there anyone that has used these and can a confirm whether or not they act as a fastpass (for the whole family)? We have one for Soarin' and would like confirmation that it will work if we go back to Epcot during spring break.
