I know I've seen this on the boards before but I can't seem to find it.
Is there a phone number for special assistance while you are on vacation,
so you can call prior for any "special" help or such you may need.
Thanks!

What specifically do you need help with? There are different contacts for different "needs" (transportation, lodging, dining, etc.).

In general, here are some that might help (check the FAQs thread in this forum for additional info, including w/c & ECV rentals):

General contact for WDW dining: Brenda.Bennett@disney.com
MK dining: 407-824-5967 or email wdwmkspecialdiets@email.disney.com
EPCOT dining: 407-560-6395 or email wdwecspecialdiets@email.disney.com
DHS dining: 407-560-3551 or email wdwstspecialdiets@email.disney.com
DAK dining: 407-938-3288 or email wdwakspecialdiets@email.disney.com

Transportation from airport: You can use Disney's Magical Express--they merely ask that you please give advance notice of your need when booking, so that they can accomidate you. To reserve an accessible shuttle from Mears, call 407-423-5566. Or you can rent an accessible van from a local vendor.

Lodging: At the time you make your reservation, let them know if you will need a handicapped accessible room (and if so, which type--roll in shower, or just grab bars). If you are going through a TA, they can make sure the appropriate arrangements are made. Or, you can contact special reservations directly at: 407-939-7807 and press "1".

Hope this helps.

Matts mom - that is a start and think it will work for everything I need.
I need to do a request for the room and food allergies and lactose allergies
I wanted to see about a room close to the lobby for my mom - she has bad breathing issues/heart condition and can't walk that far all the time - I am working on trying to conv. her to get and ECV for the week and also wanted to make sure it would fit in the room ...

Walking from your room to the lobby is about the shortest walk of all at WDW - so let your mom know that she will be traveling from the resort to the bus stop (or parking lot) and getting around the parks by doing a lot fo walking too - and that she will really have a better time using an ECV.

In case you lose this thread, those phone numbers are also listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board. The first post in that thread is an index; then you can look for the phone number in the posts.
