Special AKV Offer??

Going to have to pass on this one. 2 add ons in the last year already! We will be at 285 pts for a while.

Does anyone think that this is an example of DVC feeling the pinch from the slow economy?

I don't think so. I think it is more an effort to get AKV to sell out before they have 3 resorts in the selling phase.

To all of you addon experts. If you financed through disney for your first purchase and then want to do an addon, do you get the same financing rate/approval or do they run a credit check again? We had heard that you were locked in for your financing (we did get the preferred rate) for your master and any addons, which is why we did a joint purchase instead of doing one person now, the other person later. Can anyone shed some light on this?

This does seem to be a great offer. However, back in late February, I think the Holy Grail of offers was available at Doorway to Dreams in Chicago for AKV:

Minnimum 100 points
double developer points
$8 credit per point
2 annual passes
current UY points

I hope we see another offer like this again sometime soon!

Isn't their anniversary event this weekend? I wonder if the same offer will be available to those who attend. Might be a very lucky day for people that live in or near the Chicago area!

The financing rate may differ depending on the market but they do not run a credit check again. Also if you originally bought in when the closing costs were still waived you still do not pay any closing costs.

Can you use the $500 gift card for the purchase?...or for MFees?

I've been told that if you take a tour, the current AKL Incentives expire 72 hours after you take a tour....

I've been told that if you just get info over the phone with a guide and do not actually view them that there is no pressure of the 72 hours...

Anyone also hear the 72 hour rule after tour for current AKV incentives to expire??????????

Thnx.......:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We did the add-on of 100 points yesterday. We actually went to visit our guide on Thursday to discuss the new offer. There was no mention of a 72 hour window when we talked to him, we just waited a night to commit so we could make sure we wanted to do it.

We purchased 100 additional AKV points with our October UY. Points are for 2008 UY, but no maintenance fees until May 2009. We received 100 bonus points for Saratoga good to use within the year, and a $500 Visa gift card that we will receive when the purchase closes.

We put $500 down and received the $8 per point from Disney that we used for the rest of the down payment. So if you think of it, since we get the $500 gift card you are getting the points for basically no down payment.

Yes, that is what we were told... However, I explained that we didn't plan on taking the tour (we just happened to be standing next to a DVC booth, with some time to kill) and I was given the impression that the 3 days could have been extended a bit. I think the way we left it was "just make some contact with me in 3 days and the deal would still be on the table".

My thinking was that if I should decide to jump and the deal isn't there, then "no deal".

So, my question is can I get this deal plus the extra $500 if I put it on my Disney Visa?
Also, in all these handy dandy breakdowns, is anybody including the MF for the points or closing costs!!!!
Thanks for the info!!

Was that only for Illinois Residents? It would be easy for me to hop over to Chicago (Southwest 30 bucks to fly). I sure wish they had this deal again! When was that?

There would be no MF for 2008, and there are no closing costs when doing an add on direct with DVC.

I'm really confused now because my guide said there were no '08 pts available for any UY and that's why they were giving out DP's. :confused3

She also said the $500 prepaid Visa and the $500 Disney Visa rewards could not be combined -- it's either/or. But now I'm wondering about that too!

We bought in Feb. at Doorway to Dreams for 200pts.

We chose 2 AP's(you could have had a $500 gift card)
Points were $8
270 DP's
our 2007 pts with a Dec. use year

*also had a snafu(minor) at closing and they gave us a Rainforest giftcard not necessary but very nice!! CM's there are soooo nice

I was hoping to add on at the event at Doorway this weekend but people that attended last night said the minimum purchase or add on is 160pts. to many for us.

I did receive the email for the gift card.

It does sound like a good deal if you are interested in buying at AKV.
Perhaps they are pushing the AKV sales so they can get on with the other projects.

They've messed up our paperwork for the OKW extension for the second time. They're supposed to redo it and send it out next week. Now I'm rethinking that decision. I may cancel the extension and just do this AKV offer. When we stayed there in January we knew right away we were going to need more points. This may be my chance. :woohoo:

I just would prefer to buy these points before a price increase.

Hmmmm....I didn't get this e-mail either. I will have to call my guide on Monday and see if we are interested in this.

I actually received this email. We already have 250 pts at AKV and want more at BCV. Wish they would give out incentives for BCV instead:rotfl2:

Actually, 100 points was the minimum add-on at the Doorways to Dream event this weekend.

We just arrived back from the 3-night Wonder cruise and we went to the DVC Member "event" on boarding day (ok...it was raining and the kids couldn't swim so there wasn't anything else to do). We were not interested in adding on and just hung out and gots lots of free stuff.

FF to day 2 of the cruise where we decided to check out the "special" price on a 7-day cruise for next summer for 2A and 2K. Price for a Cat 5 was well over $8000! Now, the only other time we have taken a 7-day was on points (almost 8 years ago) so the sticker shock factor was high. The 3-day we just returned from in a Cat 5 was only $2300 (Florida Resident Special) and we only booked 2 weeks before sailing!

**here comes the justification part**
My DH thought back to the DVC presentation and said "why throw $8000 down the drain if we can get the cruise we want out AND have the benefit of adding on the points?". Surprised the heck out of me since he is usually quite the frugal one on things like this. So, we went to see Tony, the DVC rep on board, and discussed how we could eek out the cruise with the incentives and it all seemed to work!

Purchased 200 points at AKV
200 developer points (which he SAID we could use to book the cruise)
230 points from existing FEB 09 OKW
gives us a total of 630 points.

The "call within 3-days of returning from your cruise" price for the 7-day Tortula/St.Thomas cruise for Cat 5 in July of '09 is 340 pts per adult for a total of 680 points. I have some points left from this year that I was going to bank that may cover the extra 50 we need --give or take a few.

We will use the $1000 gift card to pay for the two kids cruise on "cash price" which should come close to covering their cost.

So, in the end instead of "flushing" the $8k away that we would have by just paying for the cruise we are working the current incentives to at least put that same money towards MANY future vacations.:wizard:

Post a new question for anyone who went to the Doorway to Dreams Event in Chicago. They had presentations w/ a new "Holy Grail" offer. I went but I'm sorry to say that I don't remember the details b/c we couldn't afford to add on. DH has been unemployed for a while.

Don't quote me on this (note time of night) but they had deals at:

100 or 160
200 or 250
???
500

The 1st two levels included a "special fast pass" for the length of your stay when you used your developer points. They said you could get 5 nights in a one bedroom at Kidani or ??? Interval Int'l.
The 1st level included a $500 gift card in addition to the $8 off points.

The higher levels included a $1,000 gift card +

4 night Wonder Cat 7 two people 200 something point level
Disney Adventures for the old destination for 2
ANY Disney Adventures for 2

PM me if you live in IL or close by & I can always call one of the guides & get the correct incentives. I think there's a $50 reward card if you refer someone, so I think they reward me too!
