Special AKV Offer??

I read that on the member site, but I still felt confused. So if you have October or December UY you would get 100 '08 points to bank into next year? I just don't understand how they could sell '08 points when the rooms are not built yet.

Oh well, my DH will kill me if I bring up an add-on.

I may be wrong on this...but I think you don't get '08 pts w/Kidani, that's why there's no MF's until May '09.

I am a bit concerned about the number of people that will be trying to book rooms @ SSR using DP's. Does anyone else think availability might be a problem? It seems there's lots of members doing add-ons right now and all those DP's expire in a year. :confused3

I'm pretty frustrated that apparently this email came out yesterday, and I have YET to get it personally. IF I don't get it, I wonder how many other emails I am missing.?
Could this be because I'm in Nebraska (1 of two states that don't allow timeshare solicitations??) Even though I AM already in DVC. :confused3

I am very interested in this offer...

However do you get the 2008 points? If so then it's a total bargain... I understand you cannot use these until May-09 but can you bank them?

I am very concerned about this. I am mostly concerned about this because I own at SSR. So far I have not had a problem getting what I want. I guess when you use DP you have to be flexible.

There cannot be more 2008/2009 SSR points than rooms. These DP cannot come out of "thin air"
The developers have to own that inventory ROFR or defaults and cannot take it away from you.

I do think now that SSR is "sold out" there seems to be less availability than the selling phase. In the selling phase of a constructed building, new owners buy the points, those new units get instantly declared into inventory, but most new owners do not use their inventory for 6-12 months, thus there seems to be greated availability to every one else.

Here's a question related to the SSR developer points being offered in the AKV add-on incentive:

We have a reservation already booked at SSR for Jan. 09 that uses our SSR points. If we get in on this AKV deal, can we "take back" some of the SSR contract points we are using for the Jan. 09 reservation and use the bonus developer points instead? Or would we have to cancel the reservation and rebook the whole thing?

the policy would be to cancel and rebook.

Thanks for the quick answer -- much appreciated. Is it possible to combine developer points and contract points to cover a single reservation?

inside of 7 months, i would think so...but i don't know for sure. (if you run out of developer pts, i expect you would have no problem booking the last night with contract pts and linking the reservations...but i'm not really sure about combining pts to book a single night. sorry...:confused3 )

Oh my gosh this was so tempting but since we just bought in Feb and we are doing the one year mortgage thing i do not think it is possible.

When I batted my eyes at DH he said "if we were a business of Pixie08 & mousepotato inc we would be in the negative if we bought this on top of the other DVC- does that sound wise??) sheesh accountants!:rotfl: I am lucky I got him to go foward with the first 225:rotfl2:

The offer also says the 100 DP's can be used at Disneyland. That would be my choice if the dates I wanted were available. I currently have a valid DLR AP so I wouldn't even need to buy a ticket for the parks. This offer has me very interested but I'm still trying to hold out for GCV. I have no interest in purchasing BLT. Of course with the expected probable price pp increase it might make sense to get in a purchase now at the lower price since I didn't take the OKW extension.

We will hopefully be using our developer points at Disneyland not at SSR, which I would figure some others might as well. I don't think it will put a strain on SSR.

calliing my guide. i did not upgrade in may to get the founding member status but this is perfecto!!!

How the heck do they decide who gets these emails or mailings? We didn't get the email (can't remember the last time we got a DVC email), nor postal mailing. We are in Canada though, so maybe it will be a few days late for snail mail.

Still trying to get my head around who was targeted for this promo since it seems that not everyone got one?

You can get 2008 points with Kidani, you just can't use them until after 5/1/08. The difference would be if you are specifically buying 2009 points, if they are selling those yet ~ they were already selling Dec-08 back in June when I bought.

I have a Sep-08 initial use year and I will have my first points on 9/1/08. The key here is I am not allowed to use any of them until Kidani opens on 5/1/09. That's why they offerred the developer points to use now and, the plus of no maintenace fees until 5/1/09 also.
:thumbsup2

I thought any 2008 points had to be for Jambo house as the renovation was complete at Jambo house therefore they could sell the points. Whereas anything for Kidani had to be 2009....now I'm really confused. :confused3

The reason I say this is we bought an add on of 100 points and when I called our guide I said we particularly wanted 2008 UY. He said it would need to be for Jambo house but when Kidani opened they would be looked at as the same resort, but they couldn't sell Kidani unless it was a 2009 UY...was this wrong?

If you tell your guide your situation, I'm sure "somehow" he/she would be able to work a bit of magic :wizard: to swap out your developer points for your regular points. Disney will not loose a sale over this. I know it has happened before.

Regarding your other post, You can certainly conbine developer points and regular points for a reservation.

This does seem to be a great offer. However, back in late February, I think the Holy Grail of offers was available at Doorway to Dreams in Chicago for AKV:

Minnimum 100 points
double developer points
$8 credit per point
2 annual passes
current UY points

I hope we see another offer like this again sometime soon!
