...but it's my turn to bow out. Although our cruise has been paid in full for awhile now, we are unable to keep our reservations. We are all heartsick, many tears have been shed!

We're sorry that we won't be meeting those of you new to us, or reuiniting with our cruise buddies from September 06. You'll all be in our thoughts. Have a magical time! :(

Oh no Lisa, how sad for you guys! I just don't know how all of you can handle looking forward to a cruise for so long, then having to cancel! "Heartbroken" wouldn't even begin to cover it for me!

Thank you! I hope you never have to go through it, it's no fun! :worried: :( I keep telling myself that we'll be back on board someday soon.... just not right now.

Jill Not sure on a couple of things!

1 if you need/ want the car while at Disney?

or if you would be ok with a pick up of the car the day/ night / early evening, before the cruise, however.
I would suggest Avis if you are ok with 2 one way rentals, there location is right across the street from DTD, in the Hilton.

Find it hard to believe that the rate you got is so good that you could keep the car for a 5 day rental / plus a few more, and 5 days of parking..

however I can respect if that is what you wish to do, having the little man. and the car there as you return from your cruise would work out very well for you!

However, Avis is just up the street, short van ride. ;)

Most respect

Peter

Believe me you, Peter, I hear you barkin'. I actually was trying to talk DDDH (that is when I am frustrated with him, convincing myself he is sitll "darling"!) into skipping out on the rental, doing ME and grabbing a car just as you said (and of course getting in to WDW a day earlier:hyper:), but I believe the answer was, "No", although I could have sworn I was mistaken. :rolleyes1 So I am still working on it. We both agree whole heartedly that the car is ideal to have at WDW. We both want to leave when we want to go, and the quicker, then better. (But you'd think saving $$ would override that!)

The car rental rates have been all over the map, from decent at one point to freaking outragous at another with Budget (my preferred folks!) But with a AAA discount and a $50 off voucher for Hertz, I was able to reserve a very good deal with them. I had also checked Alamo and National, and even with the Emerald Card and every discount from mousesavers I could find, it was a joke! Looking today though, the rates with budget have dropped a bit....

I still factor in the convienence factor of that dang car seat. He uses it on the plane, so it is coming with us regardless. However if I have a car to keep it in while we are on the cruise, not have to worry about lugging it from car to shuttle to cruise, that is a huge "price saver" in my mind too.

But lastly, did I mention that I stink at math?:teacher: So "way cheaper" in my previous post comes out to just about even with doing two separate rentals....But I am always looking and I am certainly thinking of all options:)

It is so sad to be losing so many of our cruisers as we come up to the 90 day mark . . . :( It is just as it is starting to seem real to the rest of us and we are about to be able to book things online . . . I'm very sorry for anyone who has had to cancel.

Ok folks, seems the clubs will be filled with 11 & 12 yo's this trip!!:goodvibes
The 12 yo's seem to have quite a group cooking up.... Lots of "repeaters" and voratious readers. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Anyone have an 8yo girl that's going to be onboard??? :rolleyes1

As an FYI, my kids don't frequently use email, PM's etc, so anything that comes in or out of our house WILL be read by an adult...:surfweb:

Well with the final payment due date comming up we finally told the kids, well actually we asked if they wanted to go. There's always the chance they don't want to go I suppose. I'd have to arrange for a 5 day sleep over at a friend's house for them while DW and I went though.:rotfl:

We've got a 12yo daughter and an 8yo daughter, so anyone who is interested in letting the kids "connect" a bit before the cruise just PM me and we'll work it out.

We were able to do this last year for my 8yo and the two girls had a great time on the cruise "already knowing someone."

For those of you who have replied to my earlier post about this, you can either pm me, or I'll catch up with you soon. It's been kinda crazy around here for the last few months, sorry.

Ray

So, I have today off, and it is beautiful out! Unfortunately, today is reserved for cleaning this house before the health department comes in and decides it is unsuitable for living! :faint: So, it's not THAT bad, but when Merrick's shirt ends up as a swiffer sweeper and it is showing, well, the fact we have two dogs and a cat, it is time to get some floors washed!

Tonite is the opening of Sex and the City. A group of the ladies from my neighborhood are leaving the kids with the hubbies and heading out to see it tonite, followed by drinks. Tim is redeeming himself from denying me an extra day at WDW by going into work late and watching the little man so I can enjoy a night out!

Lastly, Peter, I did some more hunting on cars....Dollar/Thrifty just may be my new favorite. I was able to get two seperate rentals for about $20 more than hertz without worrying about the $70 some odd in parking at port. I suppose I can deal with storing the car seat in the stateroom;) ! Thanks for your urging to look more:goodvibes Oh, and that price is including flying in on the 25th, so I just may get my extra day at WDW!!! BCV has a studio available, so we'll have to switch resorts, but that is worth it!

We are now coming in to WDW on the 25th instead of the 26th! :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :hyper: :cool2: :woohoo: :goodvibes

We still get in at stinkin' 10:30 pm, but we at least get the whole day of the 26th now!!!!

 I forgot about storing the car seat. I was planning on the two one way rentals. We get to Disney on the 26th and will be staying at the CBR, no DVC for us :(. But I was planning on dropping off the car at budget and picking one up after the cruise. So, I guess it's no big deal stowing a car seat?

This is our first cruise with the car seat (and the baby:rotfl2: ), but I have read that some store it in the closet or on the veranda. I have read one report of the stateroom host storing it for the family outside the stateroom, but I won't count on that, although I will still ask. To be honest, I am a bit worried about how they will handle it from port to stateroom....I have seen the throwing and "stacking" of luggage....it isn't pretty. I am thinking of getting a cheap cosco scenera just for travel. I don't want either one of my britax's to get busted in travel. I think Walmart has them for about $45.

Chad,

We have an 8 year old dd that would love to have a pen pal from this cruise. She is an experienced Disney cruiser. Her 12yo sister is going to be with her best friend and would love to have someone else to hang out with. Please send me a pm as, apparently, I do not have enough posts to send you one.

Enjoy your night out!!!

We've been using Dollar regularly now and have always gotten great rates, but, they've charged us with a high drop off rate if we don't return to the same place as our pick up. UGH! Also, I couldn't find a drop off near the port for Dollar... did you find one.

Peter, thanks for your information too!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Here's some info I found on the boards....
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1812285
You can drop off Dollar at Thrifty and vise versa. They did jack us a bit on the $20 drop off fee from the port to MCO rental, but I am still going to check Budget, etc for better rates. We got an AMEX discount on this rental, and it is currently better than what Budget has....at the moment at least!

OK Now Is this the resort you re staying at for the other nights before the cruise or do you have to Move resorts?
We will move to our one bedroom villa (Boardwalk view:yay: )on the 26th. Nothing was available at BWV for the extra night. We were going to waitlist for the extra night in a 1 br at BWV, but it would be like 10pts more, so we opted out. We are already borrowing and we want to save for either DLR or for a night or 2 before the podcast cruise in May.

I am ready for some more planning help Peter!! Hey, do you know if they are doing a brunch on the cruise?

Does anyone know when Palo will offer brunch on the double dip? I just saw some to die for pictures of the brunch on the regular Disboard and I must get a ressie. Thanks.

No they will not. It is only being offered on the day at sea.

I wonder if all the reservations for the brunch are full! I am scheduled to make my reservations next week so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I missed Palo last year...long story.

So two weeks ago I had interviewed with Parks and Resorts Online. Everything went great or so I thought. Today I sent another follow up email and she responded that they had picked another candidate for the position. Now I'm very depressed, been out of a job since October and nothing has been going my way. Desperately want a Disney job and now I might just go to DLR and apply even though I'll have to deal with traffic.

At least I have to the cruise coming up. Can't wait for our Spa day!
