Ok, I need some help from the vets here, or people more informed about this darn cruise than I am.

Everything is just becoming a "surprise" to me it seems. From what ship I was on, to now being pointed out that the Toy Story Musical my dd is so looking forward to WON'T BE ON THIS SHIP. Ugh. I'm in tears.
So before I get even more depressed about this great vacation that is breaking me, and slowly becoming a disappointment, can anyone help me find specific details on what to expect as far as shows and everything go on this ship? I am apparently, clueless.

I wish I had booked a 4 day Wonder cruise. I WOULD have done that had I realized all this when I booked the 5 day.

Have you gotten the planning DVD from the DCL Website? That will get you excited again, and give you information.

Also on the travel channel there are a couple hour long specials about DCL that will also et you excited again.

Has anyone done the cooking demonstraition on DCL? I saw it on the DVD and it looks like something I would enjoy. I just wanted more information.

Update on FE list. Room 2130 is Scrapbookqueen's friends, Renee and David. Please update. Thank you.

Not this time, but I have a dvd from our cruise in Feb. I was hoping for something specific though. I really have no idea what shows there will be - there are 5 nights...isn't there a show every night, or no? And how dressy formal night will be, I get contradicting things - there was no real *formal* night on the Wonder but a dressy night, and on the Magic with 7 day cruises there is a true formal night. So what do we have? We're like some unknown rogue cruise with no set rules, lol. We don't get all the fun perks of a regular Magic cruise (the tea parties, slumber parties, character meals) but we lose out on the fun stuff the Wonder has like the splash area for little ones and Toy Story Live. So I'm getting really bummed about choosing this cruise but had I known all this beforehand - well, I would have done differently.

justhat- we saw Disney Dreams on the Wonder, as well as the Golden Mickeys and the 3rd name escapes me (it was a substitute for Hercules, because Toy Story was to be starting in about 2 weeks). Whichever show it was that had the small bit in the middle with Woody & Jessie, that was probably the only time she was ever excited about the shows. She didn't care for them - a bit too long and more geared towards adults I thought than kids.
We'll be coming from the Baton Rouge area, so we'll be traveling the same route as your husband's family.

Phins Up Bob.....have fun....

For my Dis Family members in California....I just heard about the earthquake and hope everyone is okay.....

If that is what you want to do you still maybe able to?

Call dcl and or Your TA the wonder leaves on Sunday.

The change fee verses the cancelation fee is alot less.
Dont know what the price difference in the 2 cruises is but,

I know one thing we cant have upset cruisers, this is suppose to be a Magical And Wonderful time....

Best of luck.

August 31, 2008 4-Night Bahamian Disney Cruise

Looks like you are in a cat 9 now?????

THIS IS FOR cat 8

for the 4 night it is ABOUT $2215 for 3 people plus port fees!

not sure what you paid for your cruise...????

It is not to late to switch!
if you dont mind paying the Change fee it is ABOUT $300.00 or so! Last i knew!

Someone correct me if I am mistaken!

I've heard it is cheaper to switch than to cancel. If that would be the type of cruise you really want, I would give it a shot. You sure don't want to start out a cruise bummed out and wishing you were somewhere else.

Good Luck with your decision.

I know, for us, we wanted 2 days at Castaway Cay, so this was the perfect one. Of course, meeting new friends and sailing with old ones was the real reason ! :thumbsup2

Question for everyone concerning the FE gifts. Any ideas as to when we will know if those who "may" be coming, will be coming? There are quite a few, and I'm wondering how many gifts to make. Any thoughts? I always make some extra... Thanks!

FINS to the LEFT  , FINS to the RIGHT!

Do it for ALL of us Bob!!!

Now that we've already planned the rest of the trip, we can't switch. I wouldn't be able to get out of work and leave the day earlier (right now we are leaving Sunday, if we switched we'd be leaving Saturday instead) and we'd also have the issue of being off the boat on Thursday instead of Saturday, and our whole WDW trip is already scheduled and paid for Sat-Wed after the cruise (complete with free dining and the MNSSHP). So at this point, yeah it's too late. Had I known at the time, I would have done differently.

I didn't know you could switch anything once it was all paid off though. Ours was more than what you quoted above, and we booked a cat 10.

You can switch at any time but there are penalties involved after the final payment is made.

The cruise is all about what you make of it. If you are going to the parks, you can experience a couple different Toy Story attractions.

Since Disney has not had a five night cruise we don't know what will be shown but typically on the Magic they have Golden Mickeys, Twice Charmed (after Cinderella), and Disney Dreams.

So the live shows aren't every night then? I don't know why I thought there was a show *every night*.

There is a show every night but some nights there are comedians, jugglers, welcome aboard, farewell show, etc. There are three stage shows on each sailing, regardless of the length as they only have room for some many sets.

Probably because there seems to be on the Wonder when you add Pirate Night.

I agree, the cruise will be what you make of it. We are excited to sail on the Magic for the first time. We are excited to do 2 days at CC and this will be our longest cruise yet; we're working our wait up to a 7 night! We've been looking forward to this for a year! Is it too early to pack?!

Laxmom, I've been gathering some things to start packing. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one ready to start packing! :cool1:

My BIL is in LSU so you guys really will be on the same roads.

Don't feel too cheated about that splash area, unless you have a younger kid than the one in the photo, cause they don't really let potty trained kids in there anyway. At least, they did not on the Wonder last June. My daughter was 3 years, 3 months and they would not let her in the splash area at all, even though her then 10 month old brother was in there and I was watching them alone. She had to sit on the side with me cause I couldn't watch her in the pool and him in the splash area.

Does your daughter like the Oceaneer Club? If so, she may not even care about the shows. My daughter came with us twice, but otherwise preferred to be in the OC at all waking moments. ;)

And we don't really know what Club activities there will be yet, so it's possible that they'll have the PJ Party one night.

IN that case, We will see ya on the ship! and as others have said it will be what you make it! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
The 4 year old will have fun in the mickey pool. :goodvibes

peace out....

My actual second thought would be this!

What time does flight get in on Sunday?
Change to early morning? You could still make the Wonder? all aboard 4PM.

Call DCLor your TA and Switch cruise, pick up 2 more nights either at a resort hotel, or off site, with the monies you get back from DCL, if any remain?
Switch flight to Saturday Night ? after work?

Just a thought...

Other 2 days do some of the free stuff
Disney offers!

Boat rides, visit mouse beach and the mouse house, :scared1: the petting area at the campgrounds....

Oh there were tons of big kids in the splash area when we cruised last, I never heard anyone told they couldn't be there. You can see in the background of this photo some of the bigger kids - some looked a good 6 or 7 years old (my dd is the polka dots). Was there a CM there guarding the area? Either way, how completely sucky, especially since you had two different aged children who you obviously needed to watch!!

DD loved the pool but it was always so crowded that she would get freaked out when she got shoved down by bigger kids. She lasted about 10 minutes by herself this time before she'd had enough )and would only stay in the ear - the main part freaked her out with all the people everywhere around her)

Ahh but the bug in the plans would be there is no flight - we are driving (about 11 hours). I'd love 2 extra days at the park, but once you add on the costs for 2 more nights lodging, 2 more days feeding yourself, and so on, well it would all cost way more $$. I'll suck it up, and I know we'll have a great time. I just wish I hadn't gotten dd so excited about seeing Buzz (she just made me order a full costume of him and all - she loves him :sad2: ).

Laxmom, I've been gathering some things to start packing. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one ready to start packing! :cool1:

I always start a box or suitcase about 2 months ahead, and start throwing things into it as I think of them or come across them. Already have the water shoes, a small clip on fan, some blow up floats that we use at CC, etc.

So I guess you could say I've already started! I will be making my lists soon, planning outfits, etc. I won't actually pack clothes until a couple of days before we leave.

:rolleyes1 Blushing here - I don't ever really unpack - Very boring, we always take the same stuff - so my dressy outfit and shoes, and the pirate stuff and the beach stuff, lanyards, popup hamper, over the door shoe bag, etc etc live in a small suitcase. I have one for WDW too. And an owners locker. And a kitchen box all packed for DVC. When we come home, I replenish the supplies so we're always ready to go. I think I'm a nomad at heart . . .
