Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

A "funny" story about our first of many furlough days...

Since we were officially laid off for one day, we were told we could not do any work for the State of NJ on Friday, the 22nd. We were not deemed essential personnel, so we couldn't come in and be paid for any reason.

Well, as things would have it, one of the Disability (DABS) jobs abended due to a data exception at 8:30 P.M. Joe and I are on the call list to be contacted in case one of the DABS batch jobs goes down. Did they call us at 8:30 when the job went down?

NOOOOO! They waited until just after midnight to wake us up, on the 23rd, so we could stay awake for a half hour fixing it to run again. So, not only did we not get paid, we didn't get to sleep either!

I guess we're only essential "IF" the jobs go down. Too Funny, and Too Sad!!!

Okay...I am so excited I am going to burst if I can't tell someone....I did something totally outrageous today.....

I booked a 3 day trip to WDW so we could celebrate Mom's actual birthday at the happiest Place on Earth!!!!!!!!!!!

We leave August 3 and I even booked Chip 'N' Dale's Harvest Feast at the Garden Grill for her actual birthday on the 4th!!!! What could be better than turning 74 at WDW and geting to have dinner with your favourite characters - Chip & Dale!!!!!!!

I'm super excited....I am going to *try* to keep it a secret as long as I can...but since she doesn't do computers I knew I could tell you guys!!!!

Finally Kid, what is wrong with meeting old HS friends?
I think it is fun meeting all those who thought they were so perfect in HS and see how so much they aren't.

We were hoping to find a GREAT deal on a PT cruiser.

We had one before the 11 night cruise.

I think if I found one at a good price, I'd go for it.

Finally Kid, what is wrong with meeting old HS friends?
I think it is fun meeting all those who thought they were so perfect in HS and see how so much they aren't.

Bob...for me HS is a time I'd rather forget....and so are many of the people I attended HS with...personally I have no interest in "catching up" wih these people. I just found it extremely bizarre that in the span of 2 days all these people "found" me...too scary...that's why I deleted my account....I'd rather be an "unknown"

Lynn... Thanks! No word yet, but I've allowed this whole thing to wreck havoc with my thoughts and my beliefs that if you do a good job, it will someday, somehow, be rewarded.

Hi Elaine, thanks for the concern. It's been a rough time. I still have a job with the State, but I'm not sure which way it will twist and turn. I've been a walking zombie for the past week. The users have pulled out of the system I currently support, and are misrepresenting facts to present their own version of truth. The team is being pulled into different areas. It's like watching destruction in slow motion, and is painful to watch, especially since I took this project over 7 years with no help and worked night and day to develop it and pull it over the finish line. If I could zone out and fly down to Mouse Beach, I would be on the next plane.
