Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

Greetings from the frigid north :cold:

If you visited ICE at the Gaylord Palms and thought the 9ºF was cold....or think the 30ºF at WDW is cold (hint...hint...Leslie)....the temperature here is currently -22ºF (or -30ºC) with the wind chill....now that's COLD!!!!

Good Morning All
First off, Elaine, looks like you got off easy.
Yesterday morning it was -21ºF actually and a windchill of -40ºF. (that would be -30ºC and -42ºC). That was on top of 4" of snow.
Today is to be much better.

30º at WDW. Not much magic when it is that chilly.

Got all of the arrangements made for our March cruise.
DVC came thru with a night at AKV before the cruise.
Will do the disney transportation. That takes care of moving the luggage around.
We will do a pirate extravaganza at GC and swim with the dolphins at Cozumel.
Key West will be .......Key West.
Castaway will be a lazy day at the beach.
Just waiting for the next few weeks to pass.

After that cruise it will probably be 2011. But then as I said on the Baltic thread.....never say never. And then, we may cheat on the mouse too.

Hope the weekend treats everyone well and Lynn and Scott makes it back to the pups in good shape.
:wave2:

Hi everyone! Three degrees this morning! Brrrr!

Bob! Our trees are still up. It will be a while for us. :hourglass

Scott and Lynn... GREAT MARATHONS!!!

Dad made it through his surgery fine... 2 new knees. The recovery is proving to be more difficult. I was in and out of work (mostly out), also making sure mom is okay, and of course their "wonder dog" Sparky.

I'm finding it hard to continue to offer encouragement when it is turned away each time. I am hoping Dad can keep working hard to recovery. Yesterday, he was going to check himself out and hobble home!!! ;)

Just got our last tree down today. I always feel a little sad when we do this.

Georgie,

Hang in there! Hoping and praying for your father's quick recovery. We know what you're going through. Ron's 94 year old aunt has just been moved from independent living to assisted living and she is just not cooperating. She is being very difficult with everyone, especially everyone who is trying to help her. We hope that eventually she will adapt to her new environment.

Bob,

Spring sounds wonderful about now. We've been having the coldest temps in many years. Unfortunately, we have no vacation plans yet. :sad1: Hopefully we'll make some plans soon. We may have to cheat on the mouse too.

Elaine,

You and Margaret try to stay warm!!!!

Good evening everyone!
Good weekend here. Just finished up with the football games.
Suppose we will have to see all those terrible towels now.
Just got our last tree down today. I always feel a little sad when we do this.

Yeah Janis, I always feel a little bad about taking it down too.
Maybe it's just the cruise, but this year I can't wait for spring to get here.
I am ready for some sun and fun.:cool1:

Hey Peter, how much snow today? This year?

Working our way home today, long travel day CVG is the next stop.

Thanks Bob....I was starting to think that Scott was starting to type like Peter's cryptic messages!

Has anyone used Disney's Magical Express to get from the Orlando Airport to WDW? If so, how was it....any problems with luggage? Can you pick up you own luggage and take it with you to the bus???

My, you're inquisitive tonight.:goodvibes
Have not done MCO to WDW, but on this cruise (5 night) we took the transportation from the airport to the ship. Our bags arrived at the ship, no problem. When we left AKV to go home, we checked our bags at AKV and they made the same flight as us, no problem.
We plan on doing DME on the next cruise.
As with anything, I am sure that mistakes can be made, but it seems Disney has this down to a fine science.

I suppose that you could pick up your own bags, drag then thru the airport and have DME put them on the truck for you, but then WHY?

Hi Bob..yes full of questions tonight....I'm considering a quick trip to WDW....need a fix so that would mean flying and no car :scared1: I don't think I can remember a trip we didn't have a car.....we too have done the DCL shuttle from MCO to the port....did it on the Panama Cruise and I was so worried our bags wouldn't make it.....but they did....just concerned about how long it takes to get your bags with ME....I know I worry too much!!!!

Have your temperatures improved?....ours are slowly improving but we got hit again yesterday with another snow storm....they are calling for even more snow on Thursday. I have no idea where we are going to put it...the snow pile in our court is so high, we can't see our neighbour's house!!!!

Elaine,

We've been using Magical Express since they first offered it. We've never had any problems. It's usually several hours to get your bags so if you can't wait that long just don't put the tags on your luggage. You'll have to retrieve it from the carousel but, yes, you can have it placed on the bus with you. When are you thinking of going? So far we aren't going until December. Hopefully I can talk Ron into a spur of the moment trip before then.

Good Morning Cruisers!

We are safely home, the dogs have been picked up from the kennel and are romping in the back yard! The birds are back at the bird feeder now that it is full again!

Yesterday was a long day, one bag did not make it in on our flight, but was on the next flight - so we waited at the Denver airport for an extra 2 1/2 hours for our bag - it was the one with all the souveniers from the races, we did not want to lose that! Delta did buy us dinner - not a fancy dinner, but dinner none the less. We got home at 11pm, went straight to bed, as on the time zone we had been in, it was 1am!

Almost the whole time we were in WDW, it was only about 2 degrees warmer there than it was here in Cheyenne! Our sweatshirts got a good workout!

I still need to get Christmas decorations put up, we did get all the outside ones down, and I did get the basement tree down, but all the upstairs stuff is still up! Another project for this week!

Have a great day!

Ahhh, Cabin Fever! All you need are a few Boat Drinks.
I am sure that DME will take good care of you and your bags.

Temperatures here have gotten better. Maybe they will stay normal the rest of the winter. About 2 inches of snow on the ground.

Sounds like you have a lot of snow! Picture?

Happy New President's Day!!!!!!

President Obama has a Canadian connection.....his sister's husband is from a town 30 minutes from us (his parents still live there)...and President Obama and his family visited in 2004!!!! The one place that they made sure to visit was historic Niagara Falls...KEWL!!!!!!!!

Lynn and Scott, good to have the both of you back.
You know it ain't easy.

Do your pups try to make you feel guilty when you get home?

Someone sent this to me today...
