Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

My my my. Guess a good Buffett song for this cruise could be "Trying to Reason with the Hurricane Season":goodvibes
.

Lyrics to above mentioned song for all those Non Parrotheads

By: jimmy buffett
1974
Squalls out on the gulf stream
Big storms comin soon
I passed out in my hammock
And God I slept til way past noon
Stood up and tried to focus
I hoped I wouldnt have to look far
I knew I could use a bloody mary
So I stumbled next door to the bar

Chorus:
And now I must confess, I could use some rest
I cant run at this pace very long
Yes its quite insane, I think it hurts my brain
But it cleans me out and then I can go on

Theres somethin about this sunday
Its a most peculiar gray
Strollin down the avenue thats known as a1a
Feelin tired, then I got inspired
I knew that it wouldnt last long
So all alone I walked back home
Sat on my beach and then I made up this song

Chorus:
And now I must confess, I could use some rest
I cant run at this pace very long
Yes its quite insane, I think it hurts my brain
But then it cleans me out and then I can go on

Well the wind is blowin harder now
Fifty knots or thereabouts
Theres white caps on the ocean
And Im watchin for waterspouts
Its time to close the shutters
Its time to go inside
In a week Ill be in gay paris
Thats a mighty long airplane ride

Chorus:
And now I must confess, I could use some rest
I cant run at this pace very long
Yes its quite insane, I think it hurts my brain
But it cleans me out and then I can go on

I too am surprised how quiet it was.

Maybe the JB lyrics scared everyone....lol
Didn't scare me. Wooooooooo.

I think the part...
Stood up and tried to focus
I hoped I wouldnt have to look far
I knew I could use a bloody mary

but sometimes he changes the next line to...
so I stumbled over to Louie's Backyard.

Love that place.:thumbsup2

Well, the laptop hard drive is gone. That means all the ressie numbers and all have disapeared. I am emailing to get the info so I can access stuff again. The desk top in the basement is functioning but the last thing I wanted to do was spend $1000 before our cruise on a computer! Maybe I will wait until I get back!!!!:badpc:

Sorry to hear that.
The first laptop we had, the hard drive started to fade. Began to re-read a lot of information before it was done loading programs, data, ect.
This happened right after the extended warranty expired. Fortunately, I was able to move all the data to an external hard drive before it crashed forever. (which hasn't happened yet....still slow)
May just buy a new hard drive for it and reload everything.
Course all the important stuff is on this one too. I am such a redundant guy.:lmao:

Finally08 and Laxmom I am so sorry that you have this headed your way.:sad2:

I just checked noaa.gov and it does indeed look like it can hit anywhere in LA to the panhandle of FL.

Hopefully the forecast will be off on this one just like it was off on Fay. A few days out from landfall, Fay was projected to be a direct hit (as a hurricane) to the Tampa Bay area. I had that dread thing going on that was so common in 2004. It really is a terrible feeling. (You probably have it now)

As we all know, she NEVER made it to hurricane. We got minimal rain in this area and really didn't see any rain until after she crossed the state and headed back out to the gulf. So much for projections!

It does look like you're going to get something but hopefully it won't bloom into anything larger than a TS.

Keeping my fingers crossed so that you get to enjoy this cruise and not have to worry about home.

I didn't mean Laxmom!

I meant Disneysweetie.

But Laxmom-sorry to hear about your computer!

Just went to WalMart and it is CRAZY!!! Shelves are almost empty. I got most of what I wanted but am wondering if it will be enough. I just dont want it to be like Katrina....we had lots of damage and we live 60 miles from the coast. Still hoping Gustav will go to Mexico or somewhere!!! :rotfl:

Another work day done....2 more to go!!! Headed home to do some more packing!!

One day of work here, then slide down that dinosaur tail.

2 more here and then vacation starts. A few fun things here before the trip to the airport.

Are you Sirius tonight Scott?

I have 3 hrs of work tomorrow - and as of 12 noon tomorrow, i am FREE!!! Then the packing will begin!

That is what I have been thinking also! Our 5 days for lives destroyed and homes lost. I am going to pray for those in his path and pack the Bonine! If I can find it! Checked a second store today and no one has the no drowsy formula. Guess I will have to give up on the mass merchandisers and go to a drug store.

I am putting in a plug for Apple. I resisted for years and my son finally converted me, and I wish it was the only computer I had to use. I know it isn't for everyone, but if I can make the switch, anyone can. Sorry you are having this headache, because that is just what it is, a huge headache and inconvenience. How did we ever function before computers?

We are out of here as our ride to the airport is coming at 7 AM ..

See you all onboard

Oh Jenn says i am all packed...:cool1:

/
We had the remnants of Fay here today, lots of rain, tornadoes throughout the state and just pitch black outside at times. We needed the rain badly, but I am glad we didn't get this any worse than we did.

My heart goes out to all of you that have homes and/or family in the path of Gustav. I hope this storm does not become as serious as the forecasters are calling for. I know this make it harder for your to really enjoy this cruise.:flower3:

Hey everyone! Jenn here... yes Peter is all packed. Except the lanyards! That is his job. I am super excited.. in 12 hours we will be on the plane! Can't wait to see all our old friends and some new ones!!! Happy travels!

Have a safe trip everyone - I can't wait to meet you all on Monday - we'll be in PC on Sunday - staying at the Country Inn Suites - as soon as we see the Magic pulling in were off to the port - Now if I could just get packed.

Quarters, for the machines.

We just checked our packing list, documents, carry on bags, etc etc, looks good to go.

Peter Jenn and others have a safe trip.

Our shop at work is totally Mac, I am kinda converted. We do seem to have less probs with them.

Will check in as we make our way.

I wish everyone safe travels and can't wait to meet you all and become one of those crazy lanyard people.

Safe travels Peter and Jenn and anyone else leaving soon!

Praying that the forecasters will be wrong about Gustav.

Hi everyone,

Well, 1/2 day of work tomorrow and then I'm off for 2 1/2 weeks!!! Getting packed tomorrow, last minute shopping and we leave at 9:00 am Saturday. Staying at Comfort Inn and Suites. Couple of questions:

Does Disney sell refillable mugs for drinks?
Any recommendations for dinner at Cocoa Beach?
Any news on weather and if we might miss a port?

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Really looking forward to the scrapbooking class!!!!!! :woohoo:

Thanks,

Scrapbookqueen:goodvibes

I was leary of converting to Apple also, but it is the best thing I ever did involving a computer....after using one I find it hard to use windows anymore.

To all driving to the cruise, be careful and watch out for those crazy drivers, take your time and make it a fun trip.

I've got a question for the GSF if anyone is still left to answer. :confused3
How do you get the grass skirts into your carry-on luggage? Looks like the only way to get them in there is to fold them in half or in thirds lengthwise. If I do that I'm afraid the GS might break, or if it doesn't break that instead of laying flat, the grass strips will be poking out every which way. Am I making any kind of sense at all?

Peter & Jenn safe travels to you, see you on the Magic:wizard:

Scott & Lynn have fun at Disneyland and don't overdo it in the race. Allen & I are flying the redeye out Friday night and arriving at MCO early Saturday morning so we'll be think'n about you two on Sunday night as you do yours.

Georgie, did you say that you were going to be at the OKW meet on Saturday? I hope to be there as well so I'll finally get to meet you & Joe.:)

Okay it must be time for bed. I just caught myself staring at the computer screen for the last couple minutes :surfweb:

Safe travels to all who are traveling tomorrow. Good Night:faint:
