For those of you who don't know Tracy's Mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness yesterday and was given approximately six months. Tracy posted today that one of her Mom's final wishes is to get tickets to the Oprah show. I have been trying to figure out what we could do to get make this happen....

I would suggest that all of us write a letter on behalf of Tracy's mom. I am at work today- but I would be more than happy to write a form letter tomorrow that everyone could just cut and paste into their browser. You would have to register on the site so you can email. If people would be willing to email them- perhaps if there were many emails, we would have a better chance?

The studios are pretty close to the hospital- so if worse comes to worse, I'll hoof over there one day and plead our case. Also- if we were able to get tickets- would anyone want to help chip in for hotel rooms for Tracy, her Mom, and her sisters? However, I might make T book the rooms, so she can get the travel agent.

Yup, I think I still have the Skype thingie on the laptop. Not on the new Windows Machine.

93 here with lots of high alt sun. Got the floor of the barn painted and will try to move stuff next weekend.

Went to the Celtic Festival this morning, no off kilter LOL.

The to make my weekly contribution to Lowes.....

Will be here for the concert to night. Will try to see if Skype still works.

Tracy, I will add your family to my prayers. It is getting to be a long list. I know I haven't posted much lately been busy getting ready for my 9/1/07 Vacation. I do touch base with this thread form time to time. Please keep us posted and I will send a letter to Oprah if that would help. Lois

I need some ideas. My mom has one dream and we will do whatever it takes to make it happen. She wants to go to an Oprah show. We don't care what it costs, we want to make this happen this Fall. Any ideas??

Tracy, I would contact ALL of the local media outlets in your area and your Mom's area- radio stations, television stations, newspapers... you might find someone with a connection or they could do a human interest story and someone reading might have a connection to the Oprah Show. Our local radio station sometimes does contests/stunts for popular tickets. What would your Mom or your family be willing to do to get tickets to Oprah? When NSync was popular there were 2 teen girls who went "InStick for NSync". They sat in a garbage dumpster for 3 hours while local restaurants dumped their leftover food in the dumpster. Be Creative - Be Crazy - This is a Lifelong Dream we need to fullfill.

I think the writing to the show detailing what and why you need the tickets might help. I also just checked Oprah's Web site and it seems that at times you can submit a request of last min reservations. There aren't any right now but staying in touch with the Web site might offer a chance. It seems that this is something that we should be able to make happen. I'll add that to the prayer list. Well today I'm celebrating Canada Day by watching the Concert for Diana!!!!!!

Hi! I've been lurking on and off on this thread since we got back from our 3 day at the end of May. It has taken THAT long to get through all of the posts. This seems like such a great group of people and I'm really happy that there are so many of you out there!

The 3 day was our "test" cruise and while on board we booked this one. It will be 4 of us...Cathy-me, Ray DH and two DD. DD#1 Sara is 13 and has Downs (the reason for our "test" cruise) , DD#2 Hope is 10. They will be 14 and 11 at the time of the cruise. I'm not sure who it is but someone else out there posted that their DD is also 13 with DS and had great treatment on the ship. I'm glad to say that DD was also treated amazingly well.

We're in cabin 8014 and would be more than willing to be on the tour but I don't have enough posts to PM anyone. While I'm at it, sign us up for the jammie breakfast.

This time around we have late dining. It seemed as if we had to do too much rushing around to get to dinner on time. It was hard to get the girls out of the pool.

I'd really love to sign up my DH for the grass skirt meet but I don't think I'll have much luck with a grass skirt. I may have to smuggle it in and "surprise" him with it on deck. Getting him to leave the cabin in his jammies may just push him over the edge!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you before and on the cruise!
