My DD is currently 6 going on 16...I'm sure she'd love to correspond if your DD doesn't mind someone a bit younger . She'll be 8 when we cruise. Purplern's DD will be 10. We met her in September, she's a blast! I'm sure she'll be up for it too! :thumbsup2

My DD is 6 too! She'll be happy to have someone her age on the cruise. She's in Kindergarten now - how about your DD?

Sue

I think my family will be in the minority as we'll probably just be coming in the day before and staying at the port. Then we'll have to return back to reality pretty soon too  - my kids will already have been in school for a few weeks. :crazy2: :faint:

That'll be us too! We usually stay at the Radisson. Last year we had a pre-cruise meet that was a lot of fun.

Sue

we will definitely arrive early for some WDW time - not sure how crowded the Labor day weekend usually is but that is part of their slow season. Even if we don't spend a lot of time in the parks we will definitely use some tan time and hang out at the pool. I am looking forward to it - we usually go in Sept. or October so it will be fun to see the parks in summer. ugh?

As a long-time Florida native - Labor day weekend is BAD, BAD, BAD. It is HOT, CROWDED and just plain ugly. All the local kids have the 3-day weekend so they spill into the parks in record numbers. We avoid it like the plague.

So now that I'm made you feel totally bad - the next weekend is empty! If you can swing the days after the cruise it's a great time to go.

A new DCL change is that you cannot waitlist a particular stateroom number. You can only waitlist suites.

And here I was doing such a good job on posting an ENTIRE page of just my own posts. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

At least it's nice to know that SOMEONE is out there listening! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I will probably be joining you all at the Radisson. If my hubby ends up not being able to join us, it would just be easier to get the kids situated once instead of unpacking at DW and then packing back up in the AM for the cruise. We've stayed at the Radisson before and I liked it.:thumbsup2

My DD is in first grade. She will be so excited to know kids on the cruise. On our last cruise we met an awesome bunch of folks here before we sailed. It felt like a family reunion when we got to the port. My DD still talks about the girls she corresponded with. Let me know if your DD would want to email or snail mail. My DD got a kick out of doing that last year!

I have a Cat 3 midship on this cruise and would be glad to give a tour if someone hasn't already signed up for that configuration.

Don't sign me up to visit though - I've already seen everything from a Cat 2 to a Cat 12. And I'll get my first Cat 1 peek in May!

Sue

Sue, I've got it and will be in touch later. Thanks very much! Lacy

This cruise is near Labor Day. So, we will definitely plan to do ::MickeyMo WDW after the cruise. We will be driving from TX to FL. So, we plan to arrive the day before embarkment. I have heard about the Radisson numerous times on this site. Has anyone personally stayed there? It might be nice being close to port embarkment morning. Also, we could watch the Magic arrive from it's previous cruise. That would be something I know the kids would want to see.:boat:

Since another Cat 3 has offered their room for the tour, seeing ours would be redundant. However, how do DH and I get on the "viewing" of the staterooms tour? :drinking1 Are we allowed to bring our Midori Coladas with us? Please let me know. Thanks!

thanks

It's still pretty early but my thoughts are that we will fly into Orlando on the Sunday, stay at the Radisson and then after the cruise spend a few days at WDW. It will be the EPCOT Pin event weekend so I will be able to get that in on the Saturday and Sunday, then probably fly home on the Tuesday.

Jennifer,

There are at least 3 configurations of the Cat 3 and they really are different. It could be worthwhile to have more than one on a tour. Where is yours?

I forgot to answer about the Radisson - GEESH!

We've enjoyed staying at the Radisson 3 times now. It's right across from the port and VERY convenient. You park your car in their "cruise parking" area for FREE (well, sort of - more on that later) and then you take a shuttle to the port. The shuttle takes "reservations" and leaves every 30 minutes from 10a.m. on. We usually take the 10:30 a.m. shuttle. When you return from the cruise, the shuttle picks you up in front of the terminal. Once the shuttle is full, it leaves. I haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes.

The rooms are basic Radisson rooms. The pool area has a pretty waterfall. Last September it was a bit chilly in the pool - but it'll probably be better this year since it's a few weeks earlier. There is a hot tub area and an outside bar. We met last year at the outside bar and then caravaned over to Grills for dinner - and to watch the Magic go out to sea. We were on the 11-night Wonder cruise, so it was cool to see the Magic.

The cruise ships come in VERY early in the morning, but you can certainly watch a TON of them leave around 5ish. It was fun.

A few people have also begun to talk about Ron Jon's. It's a timeshare resort that's geared towards "condo" type living. I've heard their water area is really, really cool.

*** edited to add this ****

Okay - I'm saving a post to add this in. The parking is not really "free". You buy a hotel package that contains cruise ship parking and breakfast. You can't get the cruise ship parking without it. You CAN find cheaper rates for just room alone. But it isn't all that much different - and usually less than it would be to buy breakfast for 3 elsewhere, so we've always bought the package.

HTH!

DD doesn't yet type or write well - so why don't we wait until we're a bit closer to the cruise. She corresponded with a girl from our cruise last year - which meant a bunch of banging on the keyboard following by "Mommy translations". Maybe begin in 2008?
