Thank you for the clarification! I'm creating a spreadsheet that I can sort by room number so I won't be running hin and hare trying to deliver the things.

That sounds like a good idea Lindababe! I wouldn't mind getting a copy of that later on if you wouldn't mind.:goodvibes

I was thinking the same thing -- perhaps you wouldn't mind sharing a copy of that spreadsheet when it is closer to time and we all have room numbers? Someone did that on a previous cruise, organized by deck, and it made giving out the FE gifts so much easier . . .:goodvibes

Ok, then i am confused.. LOL

If we go off the roster.. how do we arrange to give gifts? Or what exactly are we doing??

The last cruise i just went on - i had a list of FE participants and we just secretly distributed gifts in everyones FE's... So,

I guess i am confused.. if people want to participate, but don't do a FE.. then what do we do??

I guess i need clarification on this.. And i cleaned out my PM box.. so i am all set!

Well, I dont have all the anwsers, but trust me, it just, all has away of working out! :goodvibes

In the 12 cruises we have been on, it has just worked!

Some Help Here!!! :scared1:

I can say this, that having a list may Stop someone from, Bringing a FE
because they do not have anything to give?

This is not, what I would like to see happen! :sad2:

It is part of the fun of the thing?

I am still totally open for comments on the matter!

The way I am familiar with doing is that you sign up if you will HAVE a FE . . . you are not necessarily required to give out anything, but you are saying you will have a FE at your cabin. That way you aren't wandering around the ship going to people's cabins who don't have anything to put your gift into.

On a previous cruise we did also sign up for different days that we would give out things, so that they were spaced evenly throughout the cruise, but this is entirely optional if it makes anyone feel that have to give out to have a FE. This being a shorter cruise also makes it more likely that people will be giving things out on various days (instead of bunching up at the beginning of a long cruise).

I'll willing to do it anyway the consensus goes, but this is how I have experienced it in the past.

Goodnight, David -- keep warm if you can! I talked to my daughter today about your son -- she told me she knows three words in Welsh (she told me all three, and one was a "rude" word so God knows where she learned her Welsh!) but of course I'm sure his English is quite good enough for an email conversation (haha). She would like to email him closer to time . . .

The heating engineer called today and it was a very minor problem that only cost £40.00 (about $80.00) fortunately.

How does your daughter know any Welsh especially a "rude" word - I would love to know what she knows.

In work I used to write a message in Welsh on birthday cards and it was years before someone worked out what I was saying.;)

I've passed the e-mail info onto Alex.

Julie, that is pretty much was i had assumed too.. That everyone participating, would HAVE an actual FE.. If they didn't... then how do we leave something for them?? And are we doing gifts? Because in the last post, it sounded like people didn't want to do "gifts" - if they are doing other things -- but i thought the whole point of a FE swap was that we would be doing gifts..
Although, on the flip side - i know we have a huge number of dis'ers on the cruise, so if EVERYONE said yes, that they would participate and have a FE ( i know, long shot, but just speaking hypothetical) then i don't want to have to be bringing 100+ gifts either.. LOL
So, i am not sure what to do here?!

I thought we were just going to use the roster for the FE gifts? Some of us are giving money for the lanyards and nametags and may not be able to do a gift too so you don't want to exclude anyone. Since they are totally voluntary, I really don't think we even should keep track of who is giving what either. Don't want anyone to feel they have to bring anything or measure up to what others are doing. It's just supposed to be fun.

Who can we give money to for the Lanyards and nametags?
I would like to help out on this. I have no clue about what to possibly give for the FE's. Heck, I still have to make one... I think I have time though...

Just dropping in for a quick hello!:wave2:

Hope everyone is having a great week.

A friend of hers spent the summer in Wales and taught her the words . . . and the rude one definitely could not be written on a family board :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Let's let some of the people who had strong opinions chime in here . . . I am totally OK with the idea of everyone who wants to hang a FE up getting gifts whether they give out any or not . . . I just know that on any cruise I have been on, not everyone hangs a FE. So I thought a list of those who plan to have one is a good idea.

In the past people who did not put up FE still got gives on the fish. My point was that some people "donate" to the group in one way, some do it by bringing gifts for everyone. If the list is of people who have FE, then people who don't (on the Med cruise that was Celeste who is organizing the nametags and lanyards) are excluded. I think those giving stuff out can decide if they want to give to those without FE, but I think it should be open to anyone FE or not. We did this before FEs.

Who can we give money to for the Lanyards and nametags?

PM icunurse_celeste for details.

There is no real "arranging" for the gift giving.

In past cruises that I have been on, you use the roster as your count for the "gift" giving. These "gifts" are just little surprises. You, yourself deliver them to each stateroom/fishextender whenever you see fit. Usually the giving goes on for most of the cruise, depending on how many people are participating. It's kind of like Christmas, as you come back to your stateroom many times throughout the day and there will be surprises in your fish extender, or for those that don't have a fish extender the surprises can be left hanging on the fish, doorknob, etc. You do not have to have a fish extender to participate.

Most people leave a little note on the gift with who it is from.

Not really any big deal, very easy. Participate in the giving or not.
Decide what you will give. Pack it up and take it to the port with you, or ship ahead and let it be delivered to your stateroom for giving when you arrive. Even if you don't give, others will and if you have a stateroom listed on the roster you will receive gifts. People who give the gifts give to all on the roster (as far as I know).

Hope this helps!

So, i am not sure what to do here?!

100 plus gifts is what it has been on my past couple cruises. Many people group together if they want to give to keep the cost reasonable.

Again..this is not a requirement. It is a nice, thoughtful, relaxed way to have some fun on the ship.

The only reason I mention the need for a FE is that what I gave last year (and many of the things left in my FE) couldn't have been left on a doorknob or on the fish . . . but we will work it out and do it however everyone wants to.:goodvibes

Hmmmm ok.. I guess i had it totally wrong all along then.. However, i honestly don't know what i would bring for 100+ people..

As i said, in my last cruise, there was a small group of us.. so it was very easy..

So, i guess i am not really "responsible" for anything then... i can delete all my FE pm's i have gotten over the last several months?? I just want to be 100% sure.

I'm sorry i sound so confused on this issue; i just figured it was a FE gift thing - so those who wanted to participate would have FE's and would have their name in.. that's all.. LOL But, i guess now that sounded too easy.. LOL

So i guess i have it now -- we just go off the master list, and if we bring items then we do,and if we don't, then we don't. right? And everyone is able -- FE or not. right?

What we have always done in the past is to go by the list we had, if there was no fish extender but something on the door indicating the occupant was one of the DIS group, like a door magnet, we would put whatever we brought on the fish. If there was nothing on the door and no fish extender, we would tend to skip that room, deciding that the name and room number on the list were not accurate, or for whatever reason, the listed occupant could not come on the cruise. Because it is such a large group, the gifts will be small.

If someone didn't have a fish extender many gifts were left right in front of the door so as to be noticed when person arrived back to stateroom.
And like Lynn mentions above, if there there is no reason to believe a dis'er is still in the room the room gets skipped.
Many people are in gty status, move rooms when they check in, get upgraded for whatever reason and you don't always know where these people went. So, in that case..you have no control.

I personally would be happy to find a couple hershey's nuggets or similar in my fe - it's not the size of the gift that matters, it's the anticipation and fun of there being a surprise! No one has to go broke with this stuff.

When I figure out the spreadsheet, I will share it with anyone who wants it.

Diapp, David, Is there not a "little" rugby match comming up soon, for Wales that is.
