Speaking of Netflix

New Netflix v old Netflix, I miss what it used to be.

Anyone else miss the Netflix user viewer reviews & amazing library of old content? Human reviews were the best feature and what set them apart at first, no idea why it stopped.

The reviews kept me from watching garbage & their second best feature, the expansive library, was reliable so I could pull any random film no matter how old it was and find it in one place. We did so many top 100 films with Netflix library, I miss it.

Probably part of the reason the expansive library got diluted is there are SO many streaming services. Disney, for example, doesn't want people watching their content on Netflix, they want them to watch it on D+.

"Human" reviews I take with a grain of salt. Too many fake reviewers. Heck, one had a review booted from the Transportation board here.

I was thinking how easily it could be manipulated now, although, if the reviewer is given a spot for words it's super easy to pick off the fakes. Just like with products and travel, if there are a hundred reviews where 4/10 are a one star trashing it and every 5th is a 5 star gushing rave, well it's pretty simple.

WIth all the services I get overloaded by suggestions and default to old stuff that I know will be normal.

I tend to take reviews with a grain of salt. There's too many paid for reviews these days, and everyone's taste is different. I don't think that I ever used the review feature on Netflix.

What I do occasionally miss was the red envelope arriving in the mail! Or knowing that you had a que lined up and it would be sent once the other was sent back.

I never pay attention to reviews. I am on a FB Netflix Recommendation group. Everytime someone post a positive glowing review on a show someone else will say it is garbage. It is personal taste. I watch what I think I will like and if I don’t I move on to something else. Lots of people in the group complain about too many foreign languages shows which is what I like to watch as well. Definitely subjective. I pay more attention to the thing on Netflix that gives me a “ % match” as it is usually pretty accurate for my taste.

I would take the US catalogue over what we get in Canada any day. I’m telling on myself but about 10 years ago I did log into the US site using a fake vpn and I was gobsmacked at how much content there was.

I really dislike all the original content Netflix puts out. I don’t think I can think of one series I watch that is Netflix created.

I feel like such a geezer for complaining lol
