Speaking of fridges, love or hate your French door model?

We just replaced all our appliances about a month ago. I decided against the French Door and went with a Frigidaire Gallery side by side, which was very shocking to the sales people.
1. I have no desire to bend over for stuff in my freezer every time.
2. It looks like a complete dumping ground for me. The lack of organization would drive me bonkers.
3. Not thrilled with the in door ice maker and water options as these are VERY important features at our house
4. Size was too big, I am not a fan of these ginormous fridges dominating the kitchens
5. Double the cost of a comparable side by side (used the savings to get a double oven range!)

Outside of entertaining, we just don't keep a lot in our fridge. All our condiments fit in the door and we buy a lot of fresh ingredients. So my fridge is usually full for a day or two but by mid week it starts to get fairly sparse until the weekend when we grocery shop again. We are pretty good about keeping it cleaned out of expired items. We do have a traditional freezer on top spare fridge in our garage that we use for extra freezer storage, drinks/beer, and extra space when entertaining.

Love my french door fridge. We've had it for 5 years. The fridge has adjustable shelves in both the main area and the doors, plus one shelf that can be pushed back for taller items. The pull out lower freezer has a pull out shelf as well as baskets, making finding things easy for us. And I've never had to get down on the floor to find anything in there.

We do have a chest freezer in the garage for large items, and for the times DH has a wild hair and buys several months worth of frozen vegetables or meat when its on sale. Now THAT is a nightmare when it comes time to find one particular thing.

I have always hated my parents side by side. The freezer wouldn't hold anything big, and the fridge side was too small to hold enough food for more than a couple of people. They had to keep another fridge and a chest freezer in the garage for the overflow.

Although I don't totally hate it, I'm not a fan. We just bought one a few months ago to replace our side by side. The side by side never had enough width in the freezer for me, and besides, I loved the looks of the French Door style, so that's what we bought. Well, now I find that there's not enough room for tall stuff. So I find pros and cons-side by side-small freezer; French door-short distance between shelves. With the side by side we went out and bought a small chest freezer for the garage to deal with the small freezer issue. So I wish we'd bought another side by side this time.
The shelves aren't adjustable?

French door, bottom freezer Samsung, ice maker in freezer, no water in door. LOVE IT! Almost 5 years old and works as good as the day we brought it home.

I don't have one, but my mother and my brother do. I really, really hate using theirs. We just got a new side by side that is ginormous and I love it.

Their french door models lack depth and you have to put the taller items at the front, then pull them out to see what is in the back of the fridge. It is asinine.

I'm getting used to mine. - I just got it this summer.

I love the bigger deli and veggie drawers.

I like having more door bins, but I'm not comfortable putting milk in the door, so I do fill the limited "tall items" space pretty quickly. (That also limits the "adjustable" nature of the shelves a bit, but I've slowly figured out the best places to put stuff.)

I'm not a huge fan of the freezer on the bottom, as I do think it gets disorganized faster. I pretty much only keep open stuff in there, and use the basement freezer for things I haven't opened yet.

We have water in the door, which is really nice, and an ice-maker in the freezer, which we don't use. - I just couldn't give up the space for it in the summer when I needed a flat spot for popsicle makers.

Overall, I do think I like it, though.

The shelves aren't adjustable?

Yes, the shelves are adjustable. However, if I adjust one shelf to get tall (2L) bottles on it, the adjustment leaves the other shelves so close together that they're too close together for even 12 oz cans to fit.

I bought a small french-door fridge in my first home and loved it. We replaced the fridge in this home a few months ago and went with another french door style. I hate the fridge space in side-by-sides. We shop at Costco and most of the boxes don't even fit in the freezer with the side-by-side models.

A little off topic here but does anyone know of a reasonably price upright freezer ( no more than $1000.00) that has an automatic icemaker built in. All I found on internet are too pricey

I don't love mine. Don't hate it, but definitely don't love it enough to buy another one. Same reasons everyone else has posted - not enough room on top, disorganized jumble in the freezer.
