Can anyone tell me what is going on with my cat? She began vocalizing on Tue. and we took her to the vet yest. She has bladder irritation with small amount of blood in her urine.

WELL, she is on meds twice a day for this and now Lilly, who never makes a noise, is running around howling all day and night. I mean howling. She is also "assuming the posture" all over the place. I don't think she has slept either.

How can this be for a spayed cat? Doesn't make sense to me. Anyone have any experience with this? I am waiting for the vet to call back.

How long ago was she spayed? I have heard that sometimes they can go through one last cycle for some reason. Doesn't make sense to me, but whatever....

In the case of my cat, she continued to cycle through a few more times, which was weird. I took her back to the vet and he said she may have some stray ovarian tissue in the abdomen that wasn't removed during the original procedure. They looked around a second time and I guess they did find something. Afterwards, she was back to normal, though.

I figured this could be similar to endometriosis in humans, where a person may have tissue within the abdomen that responds to the hormone cycle.

If you are concerned then call your vet. If you aren't satisfied with their answer, you may want to talk to a second vet.

It sounds more like she is just posturing and crying from the urinary tract infection. Passing crystals can be VERY painful. Cries of pain are pretty much the same cries that a female in heat makes. The posturing is probably her way of trying to find a position that offers relief. Keep up the meds and I would folllow back up to the vet if she does not improve in the next 24 hours.
