Ooops. My bad.

I think American Samoa is considering adopting a Samoan-language version of our national anthem. Their "unofficial" anthem is "Amerika Samoa".Miss Jasmine said:I think some people took artistic license with a song many feel is sacred at a time when tensions are high. Do I think this will be adopted by the masses? No. Am I offended by it? Not any more than I am offended by some wretched massacared version done in English. I am sure this is not the first time a "re-writing" of the song has occurred, it's just the timing of this version.
On a side not, I really wish our National Anthem was America, the Beautiful, it's a lot easier to sing and I think it is prettier.![]()

Personally I like crumpets and tea.Charade said:Huh? We shouldn't be proud of winning the Revolution? Where would we be now if we didn't? Eating crumpets and drinking tea at three.
Charade said:The "fuss" is it's disrespectful. What's the point of singing it in Spanish? The point is, as has been stated before, many of these people have little desire to assimilate to American culture.
Already been answered, but yep, it wasn't about the revolution, but the war of 1812.Charade said:Huh? We shouldn't be proud of winning the Revolution? Where would we be now if we didn't? Eating crumpets and drinking tea at three.

NOT...

But the words shouldn't be changedHarambeGuy said:Geez, I hope none of you people sing Silent Night at Christmas, or O Christmas Tree.
Or worse, own a King James version of the Bible if you are Christian (the official book of your religion). Massive translation and word changes there.
Chill, people. Fear doesn't become you.
wdwoldtimer said:Since the song, i.e.the lyrics and the words, was officially designated as the National Anthem of the United States of America by an act of Congress in 1931...these idiots can sing whatever they want. It still won't be the National Anthem. It could be a Britney Spears sung in Pig Latin for that matter.
Here's a novel idea....how about just learning the freakin language...if you want to sing it as the National Anthem?!?
