Spaceship Earth - Who's the new narrator?

And FYI - No, people aren't spelling it right. It's Gilbert Gottfried. :)

Good catch on the Gottfried, Brian.

And to give an even more appropriate example of how distinct and annoying his voice is, he also does the voice for the AFLAC duck.

More important than the voice...I hear SE may be soft-opening for Dec.4th or 5th, which is MAHVELOUS, since that's when I arrive! I'll let you know if it's Judi Dench when I come back.

Dame Judi Dench ! ! Way kewl…but I’ll be humming “As time Goes by” when I get off the ride! LOL

Patrick Stewart would be OK but Judi Dench would (will?) be very cool. It'll be pretty different hearing a woman's voice but I think it will work very well. I keep going over the spiel in my head in her voice..."Like a grand and miraculous spaceship..." and it sounds great :thumbsup2

Apparently it is definitely going to be Dame Judi Dench, it's all recorded and ready to go.

I had heard a rumor that it might be Patrick Stewart.
Either of those two would be awesome!

I'll be there at that time too. I hope that rumor is true!

Beth

I'll be arriving late on Dec 4 for MouseFest - here's hoping that there is a soft opening that week! The MouseFesters will run the ride into the ground.

I'd like to suggest Ozzie Osborne. It would definitely be interesting

:lmao: Yeah, you wouldn't be able to understand a word he was saying. :rotfl:

I have no idea who Dame Judi Dench is, but I wish it was back to Walter Cronkite too. Oh well, whoever it is, I hope they hurry up and open it, not that I'll be back to see it too soon. :sad1:

If they can't get Gilbert Gottfried or Ozzy, my vote is for Bobcat Goldthwait.

Oh please, please, please let this rumor be true! I just broke the news of the rehab going longer than expected to my husband a few days ago. I figured I needed to wait until he was super excited about the trip so the excitement outweighed the buzzkill, but not so close that he wouldn't have time to get over it before the trip. He's a bit partial to SE. :) I think I'll just keep this rumor to myself and see what happens. I'm not holding my breath, but a little hope never hurt anyone. :wizard:

Add me to those who wish Cronkite was back. Irons just went through the motions--almost puts me to sleep hearing him.
Maybe this new lady will be OK. Has to be better than Irons.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
"mumble mumble **** mumble *** mumble mumble **** **** **** mumble mumble ****"

Ozzy would be more like:

mumble mumble . . . SHARON! Where's the bloody script! . . . mumble mumble . . . caveman . . .mumble mumble . . . SHARON! . . . .mumble mumble . . . Rome . . . bloody Renaissance . . . spaceship . . . mumble mumble . . . SHARON - what's Tomorrow's Child? . . . mumble mumble . . .buy Kelly's album . . .

ANd I wish they'd bring back the ORIGINAL narration BEFORE Cronkite. That one was the best. I just loved the way the narrator said (quite dramatically), "Imperial Rome, lost to the ashes of time . . . " That always gave me chills.

For those of us who watch PBS, Judi Dench plays the role of Jean in the British comedy "As Time Goes By". She wasn't elevated to "Dame" yet. There is one scene in which she is reading to her husband Lionel from the book Winnie the Pooh. I wish she had recorded that as a book-on-tape. As much as I'll miss Jeremy Irons, I hope the rumor about "Dame Judi" is true.

You've captured the essence of Ozzie! :thumbsup2

RE: The soft opening, I hope that's not wishful thinking. If anyone has anything solid, please post. Thanks.

Nothing solid. It was listed as a rumor from a "reliable source" on 2 different Disney podcasts, so I wouldn't bet the farm on it...I'd just keep my eyes peeled.
