I read on WDW magic, that the speculation was 2-3 years. So who knows.

iirc when the refurb was first announced, the timeline was expected to be at least 18 months of downtime and possibly over 2 years.
I'd guess that the whole interior needs to be gutted and re-inforced before installing the new version.

I'm a little sad. I've been going to Magic Kingdom from the mid-70s but never made it to EPCOT until we took our own kids for first time in 2008. The current version is all I've known but it was a very neat experience. Was hoping to see it again, but will be going in early June. Oh well...will wait a few years until we make it back.

The ride is a mess. There’s nothing to see at the top anymore, it’s always really hot in there, and you can only sort of hear Judi Dench.

I hope they take as much time as they need to make their most famous landmark attraction cutting edge.

Wish they'd do a similar gut job to Carousel of Progress.

As long as I still get to thank some Phoenicians and smell Rome burning I’m cool with whatever they do to it! I’m just glad we’re getting in at the last minute, I was terrified it would happen before the start of our May trip. Bad enough I only have 2 days of Big Thunder time.

If they are in the area and/or have jobs that allow them to take off to do it (or no plans for the time they do have off - like Spring Break) AND have the money for a last-minute trip.

Looks like my birthday trip may be a 2-park trip (MK and AK) unless Remy‘s Adventure is open by mid-July.

same here ! We are even considering postponing our July trip - hope to have Remy open and looking forward to MMRR, but we have always had a softspot for Epcot
