The light bulb burned out in our GE countertop microwave and then we found out it was supposedly not a user serviceble part. That did not stop my husband, who found the light bulb assembly online, ordered one, and easily replaced the burned out bulb. However, I had first called GE and learned that they do send servicemen to your home by appointment. $99 per service call but if they fix the appliance they only charge for parts and labor, whatever that might be. (The person setting the appointments could not tell me how much it would cost to change a light bulb.) You may want to investigate the repair option.
