Space Mountain Right or Left question?

Hi all, are there 2 different rides inside Space mountain? Meaning if you go to the right or the left after your in? Also which side do you like better? Thanks all. Leaving in 14 hrs!

There are 2 tracks. I usually just pick which ever line is shortest.

Also, I want to say last year, there was only one line opened (due to not enough people to ride), but can't remember for sure.

I've heard there's differences, but I couldn't tell you what they are. So I don't prefer one over the other.

There are in fact 2 different tracks, not terribly different, just slightly. I always go to the left. Also, if you want a better look, go on the people mover, it takes you thru space mtn. The BEST time to go on the people mover is when Space Mtn is closed for technical difficulties. This way, the lights are all on inside space mtn, so when you go on the people mover thru Sp Mtn you can see EVERYTHING (like how the tracks are set up). It's pretty awesome.

I usually go to the left side more often. I don't know if both sides are identical or not, but I find that the left side is just a bit more of a wild ride than the right. :bounce:

Yea there are indeed 2 different tracks. The only real difference I've ever noticed was that one (& I can't remember which unfortunately) is a little bit rougher ride than the other. The difference isn't anything that will really severley alter your ride experience. A lot of times only one track is open at a time anyway (depending on crowd) or they use one for regular stand-by & one for fastpass so you may not even have to worry about making the choice. Enjoy your vacation!

I usually go to the right. I don't think there is that much difference though. Have a great trip!

One side is 'curvier' while the other side is 'droppier'...if that makes any sense. The side with more drops really gets to me, it's bone jarring for me. The other side is faster, with lots of turns, swerves...that kind of thing. Not nearly as bone jarring for me. I know there are some that say the two sides are identical, but that hasn't been my experience. I just can't remember which side is which though.

Oh & also the point that was made about going on the Wedway People Mover (TTA) while Space Mountain is "out of order" is a very very good point! It is awesome & very interesting to see Space Mountain w/ the lights on, truly something you will enjoy & appreciate. If at all possible I 100% recommend trying to do that... personally I like the TTA anyways, I've always found it a very nice way to relax for a minute & you get some great castle views (along w/ other areas) so all in all I say do it!!!! lol

Yea that's actually a pretty good description of the differences, basically one side is a little rougher. For me personally it doesn't make a difference b/c I enjoy both tracks, but I do know some people that can't take the "rougher" side. It's really all up to you & your preference. They are different, but both enjoyable.

My DDs always pick the right side if they have a choice. They say that the left side is slower! I don't care...I like both sides!

I think the right side is better. There does seem to be a bigger drop on the right side and for some reason I think there are more turns. I would love to be able to see the inside of that ride. I've never had the pleasure of seeing anything all lit up because of a malfunction or getting stuck.

the right side is the dropper-- I love that one, on the last drop its seems like you are falling forever. The right side is my favorite!!

Thanks everyone I think we'll try the right this time. It seems we have always gone left. You know the tip of always go left.Hopefully we wont have to see the ride from the People mover. I want to ride SM.

Ok- Honest answers please. I am terrified of roller coasters but have told my husband that I might try space mountain. How long are the drops? Is there any place I can find out the drops(in feet) on all the rides?
Thank you!

from what i remember the right side definitly has the better drops. some slight air time happens if i remember correctly. the left side is the faster side with better curves. cant decide what side i like more. oh well i will have to do extensive research when we go back this july

I'm not sure exactly, but can tell you this, my DS10 HATES coasters, but he'll ride this one. I think not being able to see where you are going makes it easier on him.

He won't ride RnR though, because of the "loop".

I find the right track to be rougher on my body so I always go to the left. Lefties unite!

I hang to the left. On the coaster that is.

If I look up do I see the coater on the people mover because I never did that and am really upset I didn't.

I think it feels like a long drop due to the darkness.I love coasters so I love it. Have you ever done any coaster type rides? If not you might want to start with the Mine ride.
