I know that space mountain is creepy for the Halloween party, but is it creepy during the day? Is there anytime to ride regular old space mountain?

it's been a few years since I was there during Halloween, but it was the creepy version all day, every day...and it's the best! I love it way more then regular SM

Sorry, it's Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy all day long from late September-October 31st.

SpcM is a fave of both my DDs. GG is their worst ride. It really freaks them out. It remains the same the whole time GG is running. There are also some pretty freaky sounds that play in the TL area and we heard them at night on our last trip and it scared my youngest a bit.

Same here, it is DD11 favorite, but after riding it once with the gg overlay she refused to go on it the rest of that trip. She hated it. :sad1:

That is too bad. My 5 year old loves SM, but I know he will not like the overlay at all. :sad2:

I personally was not impressed with Ghost Galaxy.

I like the regular Space Mountain much better.

I'm not a fan of SM GG either. Used to be just in October, but they keep moving it up ... we tried to avoid it last year by going at the end of Sept but to no avail.

One of the reasons we're leaning against fall trips for the next couple of years and probably opting for December instead ... vastly prefer the original. We downloaded the original soundtrack and played it with earphones on our phones and closed our eyes, but it still just wasn't the same.

It is all day and night. This is awful, but my 7 year old was never brave enough to ride SM until this year (we had only been to WDW but wouldn't ride it there) We had all heard the term "Ghost Galaxy" and I think she was expecting little Mickey ghosts floating around. None of us thought it would be as scary as it was (and LOUD) Needless to say, she wants to ride SM again, but never during ghost galaxy. My 9 year old that had ridden SM dozens of times refused to go back on it after one try with the ghost galaxy.

Our 9, 11 and 13yr old girls love the ghost galaxy overlay. But then they're all daredevils, love the big thrill rides at Knotts etc.

My DD7 is a total thrill ride lover & goes on big Knotts rides with my DH. However, she is sheltered with TV/movies which I feel impacts her GG experience. It isn't the ride that scares them, rather being chased thru the ride by a scary flame ghost which is a sensation they have never been exposed to.

I don't find GG particularly scary, but I don't personally feel it has the exhilaration and fun of the regular Space Mountain, either. I'm glad I'm not the only one who avoids fall trips now because of the overlay!

From the looks of things I am in the minority here. I love GG. It is a welcome change to the ride I go on almost weekly.

How cool! The last time we went in October my wife was pregnant, so we skipped Space Mountain that trip. If I would had known it was different I would have snuck on by myself!

Yeah, if I were a local and could go on Space Mountain almost any time I wanted, I would not mind the overlay at all (though I think I still may prefer the original even then).

But when I rode it, I hadn't visited in over a year, and it was another 13 months before I got to come back and finally ride the regular version. I know I am very blessed to be able to go to the parks as often as I do...but 26 months+ is a long time to go without riding regular Space Mountain! :flower3:
