So I'm new to all this, and my 30th birthday is coming up on July 1st. I live in the Orlando area so I decided what I wanted more than anything was to do Space 220 and what was originally intended as more of a Disney staycation (Still have never managed to do a Disney staycation in my 4 years living here 😩)

So I did my research into what I had to do to get the reservation, and was extremely cautious to make sure I didn't miss my 60 days.

I even woke up one morning to do a test run to see how fast they go, but to my surprise right when it refreshed and reservations came available 60 days out there was NOTHING.

I didn't know how it was possible they all disappeared in literally a millisecond, and that's when Iearned about 60+10. I don't know how That didn't come up in my research initially (trust me I was THOROUGH) but at the time of that test run, I was already within the 60+10 window and it was now too late for me to get it.

Now, heartbroken, my question is for you guys; Considering I'll need a res for 6 people AND my strongest preference is for a dinner res, am I just completely screwed out of being able to get this reservation well enough in advance? I signed up with Mouse Dining and I got one alert for an opening for lunch soon and even that didn't last long enough for me to even try to get it. I do have alerts for all days and times on my trip set, but my heart was on it being on my birthday 😔 Should I just cut my losses and attempt to convince myself that I'd "rather" eat at like royal table or San angel instead?

I don't completely understand your situation-

You mention "all days" of your trip. Are you spending multiple days at WDW commuting from home or actually staying on site?

It is not yet 60 days out from July 1st... so were you able to check July 1 because you are checking into a WDW resort before that? As in, you are a resort guest that can make dining reservations 60 days before check-in date for their entire trip (up to +10 days).
OR
You were checking a random day 60 days out and saw no availability during this practice run?

I guess it doesn't matter as....
Yes, reservations for Space220 go very quickly. If you are trying to get an ADR 60 days out from the meal date, many people checking in to a resort in the 10 days before that date have already had a crack at that date.

Reservation finders are great if you are set up for text alerts and prepared to act quickly. That said, Space 220 may not pop up. I would put some fun research into a different birthday meal choice so you can have some set plans and then hope for a Space 220 to pop up whether on your birthday or not. FWIW, everyone's different, but I would probably have a blast at a character meal on my birthday. I would make sure they all knew it was my special day!

I do hope you have a magical staycation!

A CM shared recently that they are taking reservation walk ups during the day, starting at like 10:15. While it's not a guarantee, it sounds like they try to have enough openings to accommodate quite a few parties... so that could be a last resort!

Sorry yeah, I'm checking into Animal Kingdom Lodge the 29th. And I'm off from the 26th to the 5th so I have no definite plans on which days I'm going, only that I'm doing 4 days at some point during that period depending on adr availability.

And thanks! Hopefully something does pop up, I have lunch and dinner times followed for every day I'm off currently so even if it's not on my birthday hopefully I still get to experience it!!! 😬🤞

Doesn't hurt if nothing shows up in advance to stop by the restaurant whenever you're near there and ask if they've anything available for dinner.

We heard people get BOG when it was as insanely hard to get not long after it opened as Space 220 is. If that works, it'll likely be veeery early or late. But, who knows? Maybe Disney will dump pixie dust on you that day.

Good 🍀

Keep trying, especially as the desired date gets closer, and particularly late the night before and early the morning of - people change their plans and drop ADRs the night before in order to avoid the no-show charge. Good luck!
