We will visit SSR later this month. DH is attending a business conference and is not accustomed to sitting down all day. He usually likes to have a professional massage at some point during this type of a trip. MIL is going w/us to experience WDW w/DS & DD.

Any advice on the spa services to be experienced?

If we choose, should I call the resort directly to book something?

DW had the massage this last Dec., made the reservation the same day of the massage. It was like $80 with the DVC discount. When we go back in Sept., she will be back at the Spa.

I was at SSR in Jan. and had the Geyser Spring Hydrotherapy massage and a Swedish massage. Both were great!

When we were there in October 2004 my mom, my daughter (13) and I all used the spa. My Mom and I had massages, it was GREAT!! My daughter got a manicure.

SSR Spa is wonderful!

While there in December, DH had a Swedish massage and I had the Peppermint Piggie Pedicure (a special they do at Christmas) with a paraffin dip. We loved it! DH really liked the massage therapist he had...her name was Natalie. If you are staying at the SSR and a DVC member, you will have access to the spa facilities for your trip...your DH might enjoying a bit of time in the locker room. Both the women's and men's have jacuzzi tubs and steam rooms as well as a small area for sitting...at least the women's had a few chairs around the jacuzzi. When I was in there, one woman was sitting there in a robe with a towel on her head reading a book. I decided she was one smart cookie...it was sooooo quiet in there and the perfect place to get away since kids aren't allowed (I think) unless there for a treatment, which means a parent or guardian must accompany them and husbands aren't either...lol

You can reserve a treatment in advance if you want to ensure DH will have the time he would like...here is the phone number to the spa. Also, if you're a DVC member, be sure to tell them so you can get your DVC discount.

Hope this helps....oh, I know that somewhere on the DIS boards a while back someone posted the link to the Spa services so you can see what they offer and the prices. I'm sorry that I can't give the link to you, but if you do a search it should be easy to find.

The SSR spa is amazing. I have had treatments at the GF which was great but ssr blows it away in terms of size and amenities. I had the spa pedicure, which i got a dvc discount for, but it came out a lot more, as they offer add ons, and being exhausted, i wound up having a parrafin treatment on hands and feet and also a nail varnish reapplication! The pedicure was out of this world. They sit you in this massaging seat which reclines how you want it - you have the controls and can also massage how you want it. I'm sure all the treatments there are great and the therapists are lovely too. We will be spending many hours here on our honeymoon - the spa is one of the main . reasons why we are choosing ssr for that trip. Have fun.

I agree..the spa is amazing.

I had the Mystical Forest Therapies massage..it was only OK.. I've def had better massages at home.

I also did they HydroMassage therapy...heaven. I am going to do this every time I go. It was completely worth the money..amazing

I highly recommend the spa.

Have fun
