I wanted to book a massage for my sister and me when they're down in August. We did it about 5-6 years ago when she was pregnant with child #3. It was a premium, but manageable. I just checked prices at the Grand Floridan and nearly did a spit take. $210.00 for a 50 minute massage. I'm not a massage person per se, but I we've done them before on vacations. It just seems outrageous.

Am I completely out of touch? We're going on an MSC cruise in November and their cost is $119.00 for the same type of massage.

I was looking at a hot stone, but I still have a problem with $180.00 for 50 minutes.

At least I'm living under a nice rock...

I can live without the massage. I can find better ways of spending $180 x 2 plus 20% tip....$432.00 can go a long way in entertaining my sister and me.
I completely understand!

I'm thankful my non-vacation related massage is only $70.00 for an hour. Wow! But I guess at a resort they can charge whatever they want.

You’re out of touch for that location . You’re trying to compare service to service but prices are a combination of service and location. Disney’s most expensive hotel with Disney’s only functioning Spa is not comparable to an MSC cruise. (Fwiw make sure your MSC cruise price includes tip so you don’t get a surprise on your final bill.)

If you look at Swolphin’s Spa, you’ll see similar pricing (tip is not included on the menu but the menu says it is an automatic 20% on check out).

Last time I went to the Spa at the Grand Floridian was 2018 and I’m fairly sure prices were not much lower than they are now. I’d expect to pay that at a holiday location to be honest

My sister and I have done massages at Saratoga and Mandara before. I will say that the last massage we booked was pre-covid in October 2019. Covid kinda put a dent is more recent travel that involves us being comfortable enough to book a massage. It could be that going over $200 is a mental tipping point for me. As I said, I was just surprised.

We looked into a couples massage at the Swan & Dolphin. Pricing was similar. After doing the math with tax and tip we decided we’d rather spend that money elsewhere.

I was in Vegas at the Wynn back in January and got a massage there because I had a $100 spa credit. The cost was $195 plus tip so I still spent more than I would have back home! But I have to say, it was one of the best I've ever had! It also included the use of all the spa facilities for the day which were really nice.

I'm a massage therapist and business owner. I've looked at booking a massage while in Disney and find those prices outrageous. But Disney can and does charge them because people pay the price. I can just about guaranttee that the therapist are not making a lot of money.

Just for funsies I looked up the prices for the spa at Grand Californian the other day - I think it was $295USD for a 50 min massage. YIKES>

We have a nice day spa about 10 minutes away, I just checked, massages start at $215. I do believe that gives you access to the pools and such all day.

I've always booked my spa day for the day BEFORE we leave on vacation - unless I'm going to somewhere like Thailand (nice inexpensive massages in Peru and Tanzania as well). Resort spas are usually much more expensive than a local spa -- although that isn't always cheap either (plus taking time from a Disney vacation for a spa day seems like a waste when the inside of the spa is pretty much the same all over).

I generally assume $1/min for a local place, $2/min for a nice-but-not-luxury resort (or cruise ship), and $3/min for a luxury spa. I’ve started to see more and more places creeping into that $3/min category.

For those looking at Mandara Spa at Swolphin, Walmart+ members can get 30% off SpaFinder gift cards right now. Not sure if you can put tax on a card as the website states that varies by location. Link from Dr of Credit

You could also check the prices of some local day spas in Orlando. They may be doable.
