Spa Crew Casts Pall Over Norway Cruise

We are getting ready to set sail from Copenhagen.

We have gone on a spa tour, and attended the raffle.

In both cases, we were told (by person giving the tour and by person managing the raffle announcements) that the weather was going to be bad, so the spa services would be oversubscribed.

In other words, your cruise that hasn't even started yet, is going to suck.

I know that these guys are trying to maximize their sales, but what a magic killer.

Terrible sales techniques.

BTW Have a fantastic cruise.

That sucks. Hopefully they are wrong about the weather. Norway is breathtaking. Have a great cruise! Oh and be sure to mention that in the survey at the end of the cruise!

Spa workers are like bus drivers at WDW. . . What do they know? Regardless of the weather, you will love Norway! Have a great cruise! BTW, don't go to the spa, that'll show em!

Before every spa treatment, we have to make it very clear that we do not want a sales pitch of any kind as we do not plan on buying any products. They are like robots when it comes to spouting those products -- kinda reminds me of the speech you get in dining about putting excellent reviews on your comment cards!

Didn't want to say earlier, but in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea there are plenty of storms coming through, day by day, - I deplore the strong arm sales, but the forecast is accurate at this time. And we are up there in two weeks.

I actually wouldn't have a problem with that (so long as it is accurate and not a lie to get you to book). More like a head's up so you won't be disappointed. I mean, if you go to the tour and the raffle, it is reasonable to assume you are probably interested in the spa, right? Not like they tracked you down in Cabanas and started in on it. Guess it probably depends on how it was said, but, if it is what the weather is expected to be, I'd want to know. Might alter some excursions and change my plans a bit, so I'd actually kind of appreciate knowing. But, if it bothered you, definitely say something on your comment card or to Guest Services.

Don't think it would bother me. You kind of have to expect possible bad weather on that itinerary. I know when the ship was in Bergen the other day I saw on the webcam that it was rainy. On our TA cruise last May we had rainy, cool weather many days.

Plenty of other things to do on the ship than go to the overpriced spa! I had two pretty bad experiences at the spa during our Magic Norway cruises last year and won't step foot in a ship spa again. Norway is AMAZING! Enjoy the cruise and don't let the spa downers get to you.

I think every coldish-weather spa crew is like that. The Princess spa folks tried selling us in pretty much the same way. "Going to be cold. Going to be rainy." Our weather was gorgeous all but one day, and we weren't on the boat when it was miserable so it didn't matter.
