Hello! I have a son with a severe food allergy to soy and peanuts. We traveled to WDW in 2008 during free dining so I am familiar with the process of the chefs preparing his meals for the table-service restaurants. We did not want to chance cross contamination at the quick-service restaurants so we brought all of his meals for those (he was also allergic to milk then -- our options for foods were VERY limited. Thank goodness he seems to have grown out of that allergy!!). We leave next Friday for our vacation to WDW and DH wants to try getting some of our DS's meals at the quick-service places so we don't have to pack so much (also, we are staying in a regular hotel room on-site instead of the cabins at Ft. Wilderness, so we won't have the full kitchen available to us to prepare more meals mid-week).
I just received the Food Allergy/Dietary Reference Sheet from WDW with the allergy-free items available. I know that only certain quick-service restaurants offer certain allergy-free items. My question is, for the Allergy Free Chicken Tenderloins (that are soy free also) that are prepared at the QS places, are they prepared independent of the regular chicken tenders and fries (that DO contain soy)? I can't seem to get an answer from WDW except "to check with the manager" when we arrive -- but I don't want to get there and find out that my son has nothing to eat for lunch/dinner. Has anyone else who has a soy allergic person in their family had any experience (good or bad) with foods at the QS places? I think we'll be OK with the hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizzas he can have, but I wanted to give the poor kid one other food option with the chicken tenders. Thanks!!
