Sowles Sisters Do Disney – Day One or I Can’t Believe We’re Finally Here!

The Cast:

Beth – 41 – Planned the Disney Trip
Sherry – 43 – Came along for the Trip
Dad – 76 – Came along to visit friends in Tampa/Zehpyrhills

We arrived at Disney …. I applauded I couldn’t believe I was finally here. After all these months of planning and dreaming. We got to the gate of the All Stars Resort and had to show our reservation confirmation and photo ID. Then followed the signs to All Stars Music. What a fun place! There was no line at check-in so that only took a few minutes. The travel agent remembered to ask for my non-smoking room, but forgot to ask for Calypso. Oh well …. What does it matter … I’m here, right! They have our room ready right away … we’re back in Broadway, room #7638.

Sherry and I get our stuff in our room, say good-bye to Dad and make arrangements to talk to him in a few nights … and then the fun begins. The first thing us Northern girls do is change to shorts! Yeah, shorts weather. I love it. And turn on the TV … the first of many “Zip-e-doo-dah Tips for the Day” come on …. I’m at Disney … let the fun begin!

We have PS times at Liberty Tree at 5:15. I decided I wanted to start the vacation right .. by having dinner with some characters, I mean other than Sherry J (sister humor).

So after we’ve changed into shorts, we head up to the main building to the bus stops. Since I work for public transportation, the bus stops and how it all works doesn’t phase me too much, but Sherry is a little surprised. She gets over it very quickly. The bus for Magic Kingdom comes after just a few minutes wait … I think they wanted the Sowles Sisters to get right on over!

We get to security and they check our bags with no problems and then …… after so much anticipation … I’m walking down Main Street, USA. And, there’s the Castle and …. There’s everything I’ve been reading so much about .. and just dying to see. It’s all here before me. The sights, the sounds – its all so overwhelming. I love it! In fact, I may never leave again.

After getting in the park, we find out where Liberty Tree is so that we can get back there for dinner. Then, first thing I do is drag Sherry over to It’s a Small World. I’ve been waiting my entire life to ride this. There is so much to look at, that by the time my vacation will be over with, I will have ridden this many, many times. After Small World, we walk over to Space Mountain. It says there is a 30 minute wait. But I doubt we waited any more than 15 minutes, and that was all walking back to load onto the ride. I can’t say enough about this attraction. I wanted to bring it home with me and install it at Cedar Point. It’s terrific. I screamed and Sherry laughed. In fact, Sherry laughed on almost everything we were on. After Space Mountain, we hit the Castle Show …. This was sooooo cute. Everyone has to see it. The characters were totally mobbed afterwards so we didn’t wait around. We decided we would see them later on. After Space Mountain, it was time for dinner.

Dinner was terrific! The characters were so much fun. Next to our table was a New York Fireman and they really made a fuss over him. He got lots of special stuff, and I thought that was really nice. He even got a standing ovation from all of us.

After dinner, I made Sherry do Small World again. By this time she’s looking at me like I’ve gone a little nuts. It’s true, I have J. We also rode Snow White and then watched the fireworks. I love this park. I can’t wait to spend a whole more time here.

On the bus ride back to All Stars, a little girl in front of us was “beating up” the cars as they passed us. It was sooo cute.

And I have to mention …. I’m a very slow walker and have lots of problems with heat (and I’m heavy). Sherry was very patient with me the entire vacation and never got mad at me. I sure appreciated that! I was sorta worried how that would play out – you know how sisters are L. And, I discovered that I had forgotten my thyroid replacement medication … major bummer. And no pharmacy to give me a few days worth until my roommate back home could fed-ex my prescription to me.

Got back to All Stars and we each bought our refillable mugs and walked back to the room. What a great day!
