How do you work it out when you are staying a week at WDW? DH and I were thinking maybe giving DD & DS a limit per day....

I Don't Do That Really. We Save Up.Christmas Money,Birthday Money. We Are Very Good At Saving. But If I Was You I Would Give Them About Maybe 10 Dollors Or 5.I Don't Think You Should Go Higher Than That.

Depending on how old they are...

We personally will have a specific amount for the kids to spend TOTAL for the whole trip. When its' gone, it's gone. We always to Downtown Disney on the day we leave so we try to get them to wait until then...What I always do is ebay or like right now, the disneydirect sale that's going on, stock up, but keep the things hidden so that you can give them one or 2 things per day while you're on your vacation.

Or when you get there, figure out how much for each child, get them both that amount in Disney Dollars and let them spend it however they want.

Like I said though - it all depends on how old they are.

I will give DD a specific budget on our next trip. Right now I have $25 budgeted. My plan was to let her decide on what she wants to buy w/that $ and let her buy it. Her grandma will probably give her $10 or so when we leave for mad money. I will try to make her wait a day or two at lease before she buys something to make sure she's had a chance to see what's available to her.

I do buy small things on clearance and the $1 store to pull out at restaurants, long lines, airplane, etc. to help keep her busy.

We are doing the dining plan, so she can also pick her treat for the day as she wishes.

We went last year when DS was 5 and DD was almost 3. They had both saved money from Birthdays and Christmas and Garage Sales and both brought down about $200. They knew if they wanted any toys that it would come out of their own money. It's amazing how choosy they can be when it is their own money, even at a young age. My son knew he wanted something at Target when we got home -so, he was very careful in his spending and came home with over $100. This really helped in the "I wants" going on. If they really wanted it they had to pay for it and they made really good choices.

These are all wonderful ideas! I forgot to add the ages of my two. Leilani is 6 years old and Christopher is 2 years old. We also purchased the dining plan. I know they will be happy to pick thier own treats. Wish I would have thought of having them use thier birthday money for the trip. We automatically put it ini thier college IRA's. But I think I will tell them the amount they have to spend and let them decide (at least DD) how she wants to spend it. Once its gone its gone.

Thanks again!
