My DD will be 13 when we take our trip in May 2005. Any ideas on unique souveniers from the parks, resorts or DTD for a child of that age? What I mean is, there are the usual T-shirts and hats, and we will probably buy them, but as far as anything unique to Disney World and not a stuffed animal or something she would consider "baby-ish", what can I get?

I personally think that lots of pictures in a themed photo album is the best souvenier. I also like to collect magnets from parks, resorts, etc., to put on our fridge.

DD collects angels, anything like a Minnie angel or something that anyone knows about?

I am new to the DISBoards, love to read all the info and suggestions!!

Last year one of my daughters who was 15 at the time got a small glass with her favorite character (Pluto) engraved on it I also I had her name engraved on it. Now this year one of my other daughters who is 14 wants us to look for one with her favorite character on it (Pooh).

My DS is 12 and our last trip he got a nice watch. It was about 30.00 and he really has enjoyed it. Also a nice piece of jewery might be nice.

Thanks for the good ideas. A special glass or watch/jewelry would be something that DD can actually use and enjoy, instead of just sticking in a drawer and never looking at again.

I thought of another on my own. DD bought a sterling silver charm bracelet last year, and she still wears it now and then. I would love to find a special Disney charm for it. Does anybody know the best place to look for that?

Any other ideas? I would really like to find an angel gift, but maybe I would have to find something like that on e-bay or Disauctions, if Disney angels even exist...

Hey JrsyDebs,

I just saw where you live. I have very good friends who live in Lawrenceville, NJ also. What a small world. I hope you can find that special something for your daughter. I too collect angels, if you ever find a Disney angel please let me know. Have a good time at Disney!!!!!

I know what you mean I am searching for two boys 12 and 13 and a girl 10 going on 21. It's so hard at that age. I did get them each mickey/minnie t's and glow items and a personal fan they can use in the parks, after that I'm stumped!!!!!!

Debs5angels,

Its a small world, indeed!

I am now on a mission to try and track down angels, will definitely let you know if I find any.

World of Disney store in DTD has a large jewelry dept with LOTS of charms. Got one for my daughter and myself a couple trips ago and have added since.

Thanks, HopperFan. I will put World of Disney on my list of places to definitely visit to shop for charms/jewelry for DD, and for myself!

DD loves writing and also listening to music. I am sure that there are plenty of Disney-themed pens for sale; that would be a nice and inexpensive souvenier for her.

Hey, I am happy to have a nice little list of suggestions already since I started this thread. I would be delighted for more suggestions.

World of Disney also carries lots of CDs and you will have no problem with disney pens there. My son has a variety of Disney pens ~ nice ones, about $12-15 each.

Try the Pin Trading place too, she can create her own pin. You start with a base and chose your own add-ons. Something the older kids can appreciate.

I may be wrong, but back in my head (way back :D ) I seem to remember Minnie Angel Charms with birthstones.

My 12 year old likes the Indiana Jones series, and he got a nice leather hat at a store near the show

HopperFan,

Again, thanks for some great suggestions!

DD would probably enjoy a CD soundtrack from a Disney movie.

I am new to the boards and have not been to Disney World in many years; don't know much about the pin-trading thing. At first I had thought it sounded silly; just another way for Disney to make more money. But DD would probably enjoy pin-trading, and making her own personalized pin(s) sounds great.

I was just getting ready to look online for Disney angels; decided to check a few threads first. Wouldn't it be great if I can find a Minnie angel charm?

I have picked up various picture frames and put special photo from our latest trip in them. Last year I got a Cinderella's castle snowglobe frame and put in a picture of Tink's flight during Wishes in it. My DD (23) absolutly loved it!

My DS likes things like crystal sorcerors Mickey statues, pins, your daughter might like the mickey and tinkerbell and minnie etc jewelry. Great tink earings at the jewelry store on main street in MK.(Uptown Jewelers). Cool water bottle straps available at any water/ice cream stand. Hope this helps!

Everybody has such good suggestions for souveniers for teen girl; thanks!

Originally I wondered, "What souveniers can I get for DD besides for T-shirts and hats?" How could I not know that there are plenty of other things at Disney World, for kids of all ages! Now I have a lot of ideas, and I am sure DD will have plenty of ideas of her own.

I want to know more about pin trading; I may begin a new thread on the topic...

I replied to your other thread asking about pin trading. Relevant to this thread is the fact that pins are a great gift for anyone who likes to collect things - and I think that applies to almost all kids.

Unlike most of the other "junk" that we buy for our DD, the pins actually have lasting value. My daughter and nieces love pins, and I would guess that any young kid would like them just because they're pretty and have their favorite characters on them, while older kids would like the challenge of building a collection.

On the CD's, don't just think movie soundtracks. There are some other ones that are really good, including pop covers of standards, jazz versions of Christmas songs, and the classical music scores used for the fireworks shows in the parks.

Two of my niece's favorites are the scores from Fantasmic! and the Millenium celebration at Epcot. She says that she can put them on and take a little trip to WDW in her mind.

I seem to recall Minnie dressed as an angle (in White, with gold wings) medium plush there last year. Maybe they have them at the outlets this year?

How much do the bracelets run with charms? Was that in DTD? Do they carry gold and silver bracelets?

I would love to put this in our budget for both DD and myself. We came back last year with little cheap things. Next trip, I'd love to come back with some really nice stuff as well...

Now I have plenty of great ideas for souveniers! Thinking about all the ideas I have gotten from this thread, as well as ideas I got while getting information about Epcot World Showcase, I am considering increasing my souveniers budget. There certainly are plenty of choices which are age-appropriate for DD13!

I would also like to know more about prices for charms and charm bracelets.

I will definitely be on the lookout for Minnie plush angel (went online, could not find any Disney angels...).

DiSneyDad (I know it's a dollar sign instead of "S", but DD broke the keyboard button recently!), thanks for the info about pin-trading/collecting. I am sure DD would enjoy getting into collecting different character pins, not sure if she would enjoy trading.
