Southwest Visa question....

When applying for a SW Visa Business card, it asks for our RR number. If we're applying under my husband's name, do I have to put his RR number, or can I put mine? The reason I'm asking is that we're planning on getting him a Business and Premier card, then putting on the extra points to get a companion pass. Since I may be traveling without him from time to time, we wanted it in my name.

I believe that the OP wants to have the companion pass status under her account and not her husband's.

It's my understanding that the RR account associated with the CC must be in the same name on both accounts.

Yes both cards have to have the same RR # to get the Companion Pass status qualifications. You can share the points with one another. So he can make a reservation using your points and you do not have to travel with him and vice versa.

But can we use my RR number when applying for the credit cards for him? Or does he need his own RR number?

It has to be his RR number but you can use his points. All the points you earn from using the card will only go to his RR acct. So you will need to apply for a RR acct for him. Then apply for the credit card and use his RR # when applying for the card.

Once you have reached the 110K mark in the calendar year SWA will send him an email congratulating him and it will ask him to name his companion. At which point he can use your name then anytime he makes a flight reservation he should have the option to add a companion button on his flight reservation once he has completed making his reservation. That is unless the flight is completely sold out in which case companion pass is not available.
