I know there was a huge thread going about the SW Visa card but I can't find it. I opened mine last year and it was fee-free until Jan 2012. I used it long enough to get several SW gift cards and two free flights credited into my SW Rapid Rewards account.

Now I'm ready to close the card. Do I have to use up the rewards and gift cards before I do that? Or once they are in my Rapid Rewards account are they not affiliated with the Southwest card? I don't want to close the credit card and find out that I've forfeited all the rewards! If that's the case I've got to get busy planning some trips! :thumbsup2

Once you've earned your awards, they're yours but I'd call before cancelling just to make sure. That's too much to let go of over a $59 annual fee.

They are yours. They have nothing to do with the credit card. i've canceled my card and did not lose anything.

This - "once they are in my Rapid Rewards account they are not affiliated with the Southwest card."
