Southwest Visa and rewards

I know there was a huge thread going about the SW Visa card but I can't find it. I opened mine last year and it was fee-free until Jan 2012. I used it long enough to get several SW gift cards and two free flights credited into my SW Rapid Rewards account.

Now I'm ready to close the card. Do I have to use up the rewards and gift cards before I do that? Or once they are in my Rapid Rewards account are they not affiliated with the Southwest card? I don't want to close the credit card and find out that I've forfeited all the rewards! If that's the case I've got to get busy planning some trips!

Once you've earned your awards, they're yours but I'd call before cancelling just to make sure. That's too much to let go of over a $59 annual fee.

They are yours. They have nothing to do with the credit card. i've canceled my card and did not lose anything.
