So, we have airfare down to MCO in August. Per the original booking, it must be used by some date in September...I can't remember the exact date.

But, it's looking like Disney might not be happening in August (for good reasons :goodvibes), but I am wondering if there is any way to get an extension of the travel by date?

Thanks!

If you cancel a flight on SWA, the fare is credited in the form of travel funds. These funds must be used, and travel completed within 1 year of the date the original flight was BOOKED ( not the date of the flights). This date can be extended by 6 months but there is a charge to do so

how do you extend these and any idea how much it is?

I think it is now $75 (or did it jump to $100? I paid $75 last time I did it), and you cannot do it until it actually expires. IF you happen to have more than one of these credits, in the same name, combine them into one reservation number before they expire, to avoid being charged more in fees.

I also think you have a year after it expires to request the extension, so do not do this too soon, more than 6 months before your next trip I mean.

I would call SW to double check all of this, it could have changed.

The credits become LUV vouchers. Bonus, they can then be used on other people, not tied to the original traveler.

One additional question....

With the travel vouchers that are issued for the credit...are they in a specific persons name or would we be able to gift them to someone if we aren't able to travel in that 6 months? :goodvibes
