I don't regularly fly SW but I flew them last week for a business trip to Chicago because they had the lowest price and I could change to another flight without penalty in needed. Well, it was the trip from H-E double hockey sticks. My flight to Chicago was delayed for 2 1/2 hours on the tarmac which set the tone for the rest of the trip which was awful. The return flight the next day was also delayed 2 1/2 hours. Both delays were due to weather. I was just happy to be back with no plans to fly for about another three weeks. The SW staff were great!

Today I received a little, well actually big, surprise in the mail. SW sent me three $50 LUV vouchers to use on future SW flights due to the weather related inconvenience on my flight to Chicago! Are you kidding me?!?!? How the heck does this company stay in business??? I would never expect to receive compensation for something like this, especially a weather related delay! The letter said I received a $50 voucher for every person on my itinerary. They obviously goofed since I was the only one on my itinerary and I should have only received one voucher. They are very smart at marketing because I will now be taking a second look at SW when I normally would fly another airline. These vouchers will come in very handy when I am purcahsing those Ding fares to Tampa to visit my sister! Has anyone else received these vouchers? I know my niece's flight was delayed 3 1/2 hours on Memorial Day Monday and it did not depart until 11:15 PM. She did not receive any vouchers, but she was not delayed on the tarmac. Maybe that is the difference.

I was flying sw from phl to chicago this past sat. My flight was at 7:45 pm and i arrived at 5:00pm and found out that the 4:45 flight to chicago was delayed just like my flight at 7:45 because of weather. I asked about my flight and i was looking at 10pm leaving. I asked about the 4:45 flight, if i could get on that flight since it was delayed. I was switched to the 4:45 flight, which was suppose to of left at 6:10. but when our plane was coming in it was denied to land because of the weather. we final board at 7:10 but was backed up on the runaway to take off. we finally was in the air about 7:45. No email with free vouchers here

My flight was last Tuesday so maybe it's too early for you to receive any since your flight was just this past Saturday. My couchers came snail mail, not by e-mail. Sounds like you had a bad day also. My flight back to Philly on Wednesday was the 4:45 flight you took on Saturday. We landed in Phila at 10:30 EST. Since Mother's Day, I have flown 6 times on different airlines to different destinations with consistent delays. I always seemed to be lucky on my flights prior to Mothe's Day. They all seem to be weather related.

I would double check the vouchers to be sure you can use them on online ticket purchases. The last time I had vouchers I had to go to the airport to redeem them. I don't believe you can book a "Ding" fare over the phone. When I used my vouchers I called SW and they booked the flights I wanted and I had 24 hours to go the airport to use the vouchers.

Your lucky it was Midway and not O'Hare. ORD is worse by far. Several years ago I had to get to Orlando and it rained that day. Took off 7 hours later. A relative was flying out of Midway that day and only had a 2.5 hour delay. And he flew in from South Bend.

For some reason Midway delays aren't as long.

i also had vouchers... and instead of going to the airport to use them, i was permitted to pay for my travel and upon completion of travel mail them to a specific address along w/a copy of my ticketless (completed) itinerary showing fares and i was reimbursed...

supposedly according to a post on flyertalk, SW is going to implement electronic vouchers which will make it much easier to use ONLINE
