The exact arrangement will depend on the plane. I think all of Southwest's planes might be 3 and 3 but I'm not sure. On some, the rows will be directly across from each other and on others, the rows will be offset. Your flight information should include the type of plane, and then you could Google it and see what it is exactly.

But keep in mind that with unassigned seating, you will not know if your party will get all seated together. Be prepared to split into say 2 and 2 if you have a party of four. However, most A and B category seats will work out unless you have a very large party.

We are flying Southwest in September and paid an additional fee to get a sooner boarding. It sounds like it is automatically assigned 24 hours before. Does anyone who has flown Southwest before know if this is true or do I need to do on line check in myself.

You will automatically be checked in 36 hours before your flight time, however you can only print boarding passes 24 hours before, either at home at the airport.

Thanks for the replies. We have also paid the extra for early boarding. It was my understanding that we would get a boarding number, not assigned seating. Is that correct? We are a party of seven with two young children. The 3 and 3 works for us as one adult can sit alone, hopefully an aisle seat across the row.

EBCI is not early boarding, it is automatic check-in 36 hours before your flight. Why not check out Southwest's website; the boarding process is clearly explained there.

EBCI auto assigns your boarding position. It gives you "early boarding" over anyone who didn't pay extra.

Thanks for clarifying, Babies Daddy. That was how I understood it from what I read on the Southwest website.
