Southwest release dates?

So we are traveling Oct 23-Nov1. I really want to purchase tickets on Feb. 26th as flying out of MKE is very expensive as all of Wi schools have off for the day on Friday the 30th. So I'm thinking I will have to buy One way tickets? Outbound on Feb.26 and inbound on the next release? anyone know for sure. I don't want to wait to do them together as the pricing goes up quickly and usually the best price in the first day of availability.TIA

We had to do this in 2013 with our cruise. Yes, book leg one on Feb 26th when everything is released. First thing in the morning, try around 6am, especially if you want a nonstop mid day. Then when they release the November dates hop on those on the first release day. We had a harder time getting our November Saturday return nonstop. This was actually nice as we could split up our budgeting! On our last two trips out of MKE we purchased early booking late (about 2 months before) and were in the B boarding. If this interests you, book it right away as you will get better numbers.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and while this is a popular time to fly our Green Bay schools are off both Friday Oct 23 and Friday Oct 30 so you may have people a little more spread out if they are looking for a long weekend with less days off school.

Thank you WhitGB. That's what I was planning to do, it's so nice when someone comes along and confirms what you were thinking. I know what you mean about booking seating early. Last year I couldn't make our ressie at 6am as we were on a plane and when I got home I couldn't use our points on our preferred
flight and had to take a different one. It's just a crazy busy week out of MKE. Thanks again.:)

I just had to comment and say HELLO to my fellow Wisconsin Disboarders!!!! We fly out of MKE also. We are from Shawano!! But this year we are planning a September vaca as Shawano has a day off in the end of September!!!!:banana::banana:

ya i am waiting for them to release there November dates, because we are going nov 9-19

I would advise to book flight as soon as it is released if at all a reasonable price. I just played the waiting game for a sale on our flights and prices keep going up or non stop sells out! My gambling skills are terrible! :)

Hello from central Wisconsin. Our schools are off October 22 & 23. I had a conversation with my co-workers about this last October... it seems since the teacher's union has been weakened (not sure what that exactly means) many Wisconsin schools do not have off for teacher convention days anymore. There was an article about it in the Wisconsin State Journal a couple of years back.

We are traveling around this time also and will book one way on February 26 and then the travel back when the next set of days are offered. I'm guessing around May??? We have done this in the past and it doesn't cause any issues.

Don't worry about buying the one way ticket, and then buying the return later. Southwest does not reduce the fares for buying round trip.
