I believe the Southwest Internet Special ends tomorrow...there are "FunFares" currently listed at 114 one way that are open - do you think those will go down at all if i wait? my risk is losing the internet rate of 57.60 one way; my gain is getting a better time to go if those funfare rates are reduced.

what has your past experiences been?

thanks.

Pan's Dad,
I'm not sure I am following your example---Are there fares available for 57.60 OW or 114 OW ? Or is 114 OW, the least expensive fare currently listed?
My experience with SWA is if you find an acceptable rate and you are happy with the schedule, book it. You can change it later if you find a better fare with no change fee and receive a credit for the difference. (You can even cancel your ticket and apply the funds to an entirely different itinerary if your first plan doesn't work out.... )

Hi,

The fares are one way and the 114 (actually 132 w/all fees-1stop)is the least exp available for a certain date; example:

we can go from a wed 9/1 to wed 9/8 using the 57.60 (this incl all fees )one way Internet Special rate

but if we go 8/28-9/5 (sat-sun), the rate is the 114(132.70 with fees, etc) and is the lowest fare avail for that time (the internet rate of 57.60 is sold out)

we do not fly a lot and this is a last second thing - still not sure we are going -- but if the 132.70 rate came down, i would book that flight because 1) it would allow us 8 nites vs 7 nites in orlando 2) it would allow us to be down there the same time as my brothers family who have 2 daughters the same age as my kids 3) the diff is approx $560 between booking now at the wed-wed vs the sat-sun timespans mentioned....

so i was curious if that ever happens where southwest has open seats at the current FUNFARE AND UP rates---will they lower those rates????

i am running out of time to decide what to do but am leaning toward booking the later timeframe lower rate, which i believe ends tomorrow? (that would not make sense if they have open seats but i recd an em the other day saying their specials end tomorrow)

thanks for any info.

Take the Wed-Wed fare and run with it! Firstly, $560 is a lot of money! That will get you and your family alot of disney activities! Secondly, the overlap with your brother's family vs. exact travel dates will be a blessing! I may be speaking out of turn here, perhaps you have travelled together before. However, speaking from experience, when my sister's family and mine travel we do much better with some together time and some separate time. No matter how much we have in common, we do want different things from our disney vacations.

Now if you wish to go with the Sat-Sun travel dates, as the PP indicated, Southwest is extremely flexible with changes. I can't speak to whether there are, typically, fare drops later if seats remain available.

Pan's Dad,
In your situation, I would adjust the dates (if you can) and buy the lower priced tickets. You are nearing the 21 day mark--and I haven't seen the prices go lower when they are this close to your departure date.

I doubt you will see any better fares for your preferred dates, but if you did, you could change your flights through the Travel Center, Change Itinerary option....

Thanks for your advice -- the dilemma is my brother's family and my mom will be returning to NY the day before we get there if we take the wed to wed deal!
