If I buy tickets now NOT using points with the wanna get away price and the price for that same flight drops can I get a refund for the difference?

You get a credit, not a refund. The credit is good for one year from the date of the original booking.

All travel must be completed with that year, not just making a reservation. If your new flight costs more than your credit, you can add the difference with a credit card or approved other payment method. Any subsequent changes ( a second cancellation) inherit the original start date.

You should also be cautioned that the credit is non transferable, so each person you bought tickets for will be assigned their portion of the credit and you can't use it for anyone but them.

Another caution is if you use the credit for a new ticket, that ticket will have the expiration date of the credit, reguardless of when you buy it. Sometimes a small credit isn't worth it.

Relating to what Debbie said.. I book a oneway ticket with the credit and pay cash for the another oneway ticket that way at least one half of my trip has a different expiration date should I need to cancel.
