I will be using the new SW online checkin at midnite of the date of our departure (and return too, for that matter). I would like to hear from those of you who have done this. Has anybody actually not gotten an A boarding pass with online checkin at midnight (alright, 12:01 am)?

Mike

I've always gotten an "A" pass. I love that new system. It works great. I dont have to come extra early for that "A" pass.

I have used the system once at 3:30 AM and all 4 of us got A tickets. On the return trip we used it at 9 AM (for a 2 PM flight) and got A tickets.

So I had to wait until I got to work. Checked in at 7:20am and got A pass (the 4th one of the day out of 40ish)! :teeth:

At 12:10 am the thing would not work. I will not bother to give up sleep again! I did get an A pass around 9 am for the 2 pm departure.

My trip on SouthWest was in April '04 and all 3 members of my family were on the same ticket. They would not grant us the boarding voucher via the internet. We couldn't get it until we got to the airport.

Two week ago we tried doing the online boarding pass thing. Going to Vegas we had no problem..but coming home it was a pain. First we had to find a hotel with a computer then we started entering information in and I got a A pass but my friend's ID would not go through. We then went and tried my sister's and she got a A boarding pass. When we called and asked why the last person's would not work they told us she might be a security check point and that they pick out people at random. So buying 3 tickets with one credit card did not help us out in this case. When we got to the airport the next day and explained the situation they let her board with us. But imagaine going through all that trouble to get seperate conformation numbers, renting computer time and it not even working for you? Next time i rather pay the extra few bucks and fly with an airline that does reserved seating

Yep, the reservations have to be separate. They state that on the website.

I got group A at 12:01 and on our return flight, I got 3 "A"s at 8:00am. I only noticed 2 other people with on line boarding passes.

i did the 12:01 am and i recieved A boarding passes and our flight home we went to the airport 2 hours before our flight and used a boarding /check ressies machine and you would use any cc with your name on it and we recieved A boarding passes.

I have to say this was our first time that we didnt have long lines at mco to go thru secuity, we just zipped right thru, they had more security screeners open this time .

In Orlando we got the A passes at 12:05am--only problem was the 80-100 preboarders lined up at the airport for our flight. Talk about abuse of preboarding. Since when does it take 8 family members to carry 1 toddler on. Also, 5 men in suits with no apparent injury, etc....??? Lets just say the A line was not very long and the B and C were extremely short.

I have to say we were first in line for both legs in line A and we had the same share of disable and families boarding first but to my surprise no one was sitting in the first 4 rows. lol

We used the online check-in about a month ago right after midnight.(Actually, I made my 19 yo DS do it for me as he's usually up that late, not me!) There were 4 of us and all of us got A passes. Of course, there was the usually zillion preboards, so it didn't help a whole lot as we ended up in rows 13 anyways.

Coming home from WDW, we didn't have access to a computer, so got stuck with "B" passes on the way home. The person who checked us in told us we didn't need to print the passes, but just check-in online and they could have printed the passes for us. Had I known that, I would have had one of my DS's left at home go online and check us in right after midnight, to give us a better chance at an "A" pass.

Of course, the "A" passes don't mean a whole lot, due to the number of preboards - that's the one pet peeve I have about SWA. I feel if families want to sit together, they should have to be there early, just like the rest of us.

We left out of PVD on the 7:20 PM flight, 4/18. DH stayed up and we all got A passes. However, you would not believe the line of preboarders. There was at least 60 people, if not more in the preboard line.

We were the second in line of the A passes. We got seats about 3/4 back into the plane (and we even got the the airport two hours early - we had supper there). At least we got to sit together.

I just booked my tickets on Southwest before reading this thread. I didnt know I should have put us all under different conf numbers. Does anyone know if this can be changed so I am eligible for on line check-in?

I dont really care where I sit, but just dont want to get split up from my kids. I will get to the airport very early, but if they give out so many A boarding passes on line, how many will be left for people that check in at the airport?

They are evenly passes out between online, curb, counter and gate.

Yes, you can have the reservations split up, but you will lose the .50 point rr credit if you do this.
If the fares are still available cancel yours and rebook separately.
