Has anyone else had Southwest lose their bags and how long did it take to finally get them?

We had 7 great days and now I don't even have a toothbrush.:rolleyes1

Sorry to hear about your troubles:(. Not a nice thing happen, but I'd rather SW lose the luggge on the return trip than the homecoming. At least at home I have other clothes etc.
SW has never lost my luggage, but once when I flew AA, I flew out of Toronto, but back to Detroit as I had a conference to attend with DW. It was quite the large oversized equipment in that luggage, so it was nice not to have to handle it on a roof rack in the rain heading home. AA delivered it directly to my door 2 days later :)
Unfortunately, SW does not fly to YYZ so I'm not sure how that same scenario can work out for you.

Friends of ours flew to Disney at March Break a few years ago with a connection in Pittsburg. When they got to Pittsburg there was a massive snow storm & no flights were going out & SW couldn't guarentee when they would get them home (this was a Sat). They had to get home because the wife has cancer & the husband is a school teacher & they had to be back for her treatment, plus they didn't want to sleep in the airport with 4 children. They decided to rent a van & drive to Ontario, without their luggage, they ended up getting their luggage sent UPS or something like that on the Tuesday.

jet blue lost one of our bags this march at disney coming home. There was a computer screw up. It arrived the next day at our house by ups and when we arrived at the buffalo airport and our bag wasnt there they gave me $30 flight credit for future flight. They just asked us value of contents in bag.

Only had my bag lost once going on a cruise. Did the report at the aiport and my bag actually appeared in our cabin before my huband and son's bags (theirs had not been lost)
I've been very fortunate, but I agree with others that at least they were lost coming home and not on the way down. Think of it as a nice delay in tackling that post vacation laundry;). Seriously, I wish you the best and hope they turn up soon.

Thanks everyone and they actually just came, well sort of.

One bag does not belong to us and he took my DH's bag so we just called SW again and they said they will have him turn around. :sad2:

Yes, it happened to me. They offered me $150 Southwest Credit if I wanted to return to pick it up. So I did the following Saturday. I looked at it as another shopping day for me!

At least they offered something. United lost our luggage there and back to MCO and offered nothing. Some friends of ours had their luggage lost from Mexico back to Calgary and United tried to charge THEM to deliver it to them.:rolleyes1

Wow that was nice- they did not even offer us a free drink on the next flight.

We had luggage lost on SW returning from Orlando after the March Break. They offered us a voucher if we wanted to wait until the 7:30 flight arrived from Orlando, but I wasn't sitting around in the airport for over 6 hours waiting for another plane to arrive and then having to travel two hours north of Toronto!! I had a bag lost and my parents had one lost. No compensation of any kind ... the compensation was that they'd deliver it to us!

The ones I felt sorry for - as there were about 8 families affected - were the ones that had their carseats left behind!! They were offered unclaimed carseats to use for their children and then they would have theirs sent to them. That is stressful for people at the end of a long day of travel! One man had to come back after going out to his car as the seat wouldn't connect properly ... they had to rummage around for another seat for him as all unclaimed were taken. How do you know those seats are safe? Sheesh!

Then when our bags arrived, my parents was soaking wet right through! Not sure how it happened, but we did see a trolley of luggage sitting on the tarmac as we pulled away and suffice it to say the reason our luggage was left behind was that the system to load it failed. It was a rainy day in Orlando ... so I'm guessing maybe it got wet there!

It was a hassle ... but I will still use them again :)
